Mainstream Hip Hop and rap were so garbage around that time, I started looking elsewhere and discovered underground acts like Planet Asia, Cali Agents, Heiroglyphics, Cannibal Ox, El-P, Murs, etc.

The gangster image became an unbelievable gimmick and 106 and Park was popularizing garbage and putting nails in the coffin of what the 90s built.
