lifting does burn fat wj4...i agree that cardio will make it come off faster but you should utilize all aspects...I was 310 and got down to 237 byjust running...now I lift and at 250 but I look the same...just put some moooskull on.Originally Posted by wj4
Define 'working out'. I laugh when I see cats going to the gym to lift when they're trying to take lbs off. You need to run, do cardio and aero.
I started at around 210 lbs on 9/1/08 (I gained some lbs while on vacation back in the homeland). As of this morning I'm 173 lbs. Planning on going down to around 150 by summer.
Fail. Combining lifting with cardio is the best way to shed pounds, as muscle burns fat very efficientlyOriginally Posted by wj4

I'm sure that lifting does help burn fat, but it's not that effective IMO. I have friends who are fat and lift weight, but do very littlerunning and cardio...now they're still fat with brolic arms.Originally Posted by MexicanSoul

That is definitely due in part to their diet. I agree, cardio by itself is much more effective than lifting by itself for losing weight, but acombination of both is ideal.Originally Posted by wj4

You dropped a nice number of lbs just by running. I only run to lean out my thighs, only about 6-8 miles a week. I thought about lifting again when I get to my target weight, but I'm still not sure.

Do HIIT for cardio.

I'm 5'10''. A reason why I want to avoid lifting (at least for now) is because I want to compete in Muay Thai competitions. I'd need to be around 145-150 lbs for my height. At 173 now, there are still some bits of fat on my stomach and thighs.Originally Posted by NikeTalker23
