Alot of people around here have been getting fired. outta curiousity what would you put for like the last year....or your reason for leaving?

yeah but a year "unemployed" isnt a good look or takes away from the expierence needed for the next job.

^ looks better than "i was fired because im incompetant"

say you were out of work cause you had a family emergency... pops has cancer and you had to move home to help take care of him or something.

Leave it off any resumes or applications. Just pretend you never even worked there.
Basically.

Bingo. Unless you were let go for something reasonable i.e. seasonal, budget cuts, etc. don't mention it. Say you stayed home to take care ofyour ailing mother or whatever the hell you gotta say. Just don't say something stupid like you got fired for stealing or whatever other illegitimatereason.

lol depends on why u got fired.

ive been fired from one job...working at the airport (got fired for calling out too much and showing up late and leaving early...ie: work schedule 10am-7pm iwould actually work 1pm -3pm.) however I was in school at the time. So when I was fired whenever I have to explain it. I always say i had schedule conflctswith school (because i was involved in a lot of other activities on campus)

which is exactly why you dont want to get fired. you always want to leave on good terms.

in my case you just sit back and wait for someone else to call you and offer you a job. I got fired for being 'insensitive' which translates to notdoing the girls jobs for them while smiling, doing my job and standing on my head at the same time. now I work for a firm that agrees that it was all some (())bullish. it's not the end of the world. if it was a job worth claming the experience for then keep it on the resume and just don't say anything unlessthey ask. if they do be honest and say you learned from your mistake.

exactly, just put it on the resume and act like nothin happened.

This man speaks the truth. 90% of the time jobs never call your old job, especially retail, considering its a high turnover rate. I've been fired, quitbefore I was going to be fired, or straight took lunch and never came back... and now I work for the federal government

reagan. pulled it off for 2 years and some change and boosted toilet paper, footies, and paper towels lol

times were hard in school lol

I work in HR/Payroll so I'm familiar with all this. What you do is put the job on your resume but when you fill out the application just put downsomeone's name that your cool with from the company that fired you. DO NOT put the name of the person that fired you. And anyway's as mentioned abovemany times the company that hires you doesn't even call your old job. But if they do contact your old employer they'll send them a verification formthat your old employer has to fill out and if your employer is doing things right then they can't disclose the reason your not working there anymore, they're not supposed to say bad things about you and if they do then you can sue. And in the interview do not tell them that you were fired, just say"I'm looking for a better opportunity", thats always the easy professional answer.

damn, no wonder this country's so messed up.....

i dont say that i got fired... i just put down one of my cousins or friends phone # instead of the job # and tell them to act like they was my supervisor....

I just tell them the truth. "I made some mistakes at my old job, I've since grown and learned from them. I understand that termination is not apositive, but that can't take away from the experiences and skills I've received from that job."..this is my thirs job after being fired. I alwaysfind it easier to bring it up to them ASAP... people understand you've made mistakes, they just wanna make sure you're not going to continue to makethem.

Amazing references FTW! Because I know my application isn't as smooth as I'd like it, I have my references call the recruiter/interviewer. That way itseems like people are actively on my side. That's what's worked for me thus far. Hope it helps
