I know symptoms don’t show till a week, but how fast does it get bad after that?

I can’t imagine these confirmed cases in the US immediately went to the hospital soon as they had the first symptom. Probably sat with it till it got bad.

See this what I don’t get. Earlier this week reports said that the virus is contagious even before symptoms start showing.

Another thing we need clarified is how many diagnosed patients have actually recovered? And what are they being treated with?
