I feel the same. I'm 28 by the way. I got interested in kicks when I saw MJ in the 11s in the 4th grade. I never got any expensive shoe, $100 or higher, until the 15s in the 9th grade though. Mom only got me Big 5 Nikes once a semester.I am a little bit younger, 30. I think people around my age have more in common with people a couple of years older, rather than a couple of years younger. When i was collecting cards i loved it, and its the same passion I've always had for sneakers. But that feeling you get when you are just holding and looking at one of your favorite cards is pretty damn close to the feeling i get when I'm just looking at or holding one of my favorite pair of kicks. Sneakers get the edge though, because i can wear them though. haha.
By the way, i follow you on twitter and you are doing great things man. I'm a stat/data guy myself and its just awesome to see what you are doing.
I also collected comic books and cards. Used to be hype when I got an MJ card because that would be $1 automatically I loved Spawn and got the number 1 comic book for a birthday around 1997 or so, was super amped.
I buy here and there, mostly the models I liked as a kid. It's so saturated that almost something comes out on a weekly basis.
I got my first job in high school just to buy sneakers once in a blue moon when retros were $125 and $150 was for the newest model. I had no issues taking the bus to cash my check then to the mall to buy a pair. Now you have to buy within seconds
I see a lot of stores doing payment plans now so I do feel bad for kids getting into huge debt because of this.
