Yeah, most probably it is Mandarin, since it's the Chinese official language.

Learning Chinese is a bit complicated. Been studying it since I was a kid... never really got the hang of it. Need a ton of practice.

 So many characters and tones to memorize... confusing to say the least.

Writing characters will take a while to learn... then there are the simplified forms of some characters.

I'm atrocious with tones (on paper), I get pinyin and characters right and my tonemarks are down the drain. Ended up with a B+ because I was too lazy to study them
