Got some bad news today about one of my younger family members :( VOL. Feelsbatman

Just found out today that my 13 year old cousin was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.
I know it's not life-threatening as long as the proper steps are taken and all that but I feel for the kid. He's been a strong, healthy athletic kid up to this point and I was really taken aback when I got the news. 

He's like a younger brother to me and I was wondering if anybody on here has experience with a younger family member acquiring this disease and any tips to help him out along the road.

I don't have any younger family with a disease like that but I wish your cousin well.

My wife found out her younger cousin, who is 21 is pregnant and my wife broke down and started crying.

I told her it could be a lot worse.

Sorry to hear, but could be much worse. Make sure you do your best to help him understand how to deal with the disease properly so he remains as healthy as possible.
