i mean its all opinion and taste.
was bumpin godson yesterday....again personal classic. I just feel the mood (like explained early with his mom, the beef, etc) was displayed thoroughly...aka good artist makin good music. and the 3rd verse on "I can" Nas has been "waiting" to bring the "black empowerment" to the game for a while. just started goin all out recently.

Other than the fact that IWW isn't HALF as good as ANY of those albums...
Some of them were never rated to begin with... (ALL the others were in their list of the 100 Greatest Albums in the 100th issue except UGK, NWA & Ghostface which was released AFTER the list... and got 4 1/2 mics)
Oh yea IWW didn't make that list... (Neither did AEOM or Makaveli)
Givin All Eyez On Me 5 mics was the Source doin exactly what yall are doin, labeling IWW a classic not because of the material. but because of the artist... Not to mention Pqac made 2 albums better than IWW in like 8 months...

really theres no point in debating.
no one can be objective.
because of personal feelings
when life after death dropped and got a 5 mics i thought they gave it to big cuz he died.
i mean the term "perfect album" is so subjective
to me at the time it wasnt better than ready to die.
ready to die felt more real and soulfull.
the production was a grimey but it had a lot of sould sound in it.
it just felt like big put his whole heart into that album.
and then life after death just felt like commercial b.s.
it has certainly aged better but idk
i think it was just too commercial for me at the time.
you can even tell on disc one the track listing goes street track/radio track and so on until the end of disc one

i only bump a few tracks off of reasonable doubt so i cant call it a classic.
and nay i got another selling point for it was written as a classic.
im from texas and the ONLY nas album my texas homeboys jam is iww.
now they may have learned about it thru street dreams being on mtv so much but thats def. the only nas album they'll bump.
im talkin about real hood cats. a lot of them dont listen to east coast music period,but if they do have any nas cd itll be iww and thats it.
so thats saying somethin about that album.
and im not talkin about my direct circle im talkin about lots of people throughout the years since it has dropped. like atleast 75-100 people.
now i know 100 people aint much but i know its a very accurate sample of a bigger demographic through out texas.
even to this day when i fill up ipods everybody asks for "illmatic" but they really mean iww once i correct them.
they think iww was nas's first album.
