GOAT APP legit?

You bought 6 shoes from GOAT in a day? If that's the case, I'm thinking they are suspicious that your card may have been stolen and are verifying if it's you are not.

So shouldnt they be contacting my credit card? And in turn, my credit card contacts me? That's the way normal business' function.

I get what they are trying to do, but asking for copies of my drivers license, banking statements, and pics of my credit cards is more than excessive.  Im bracing for the next email to be from some Sultan in Africa that wants to wire transfer me millions of dollars hahaha.

At this point, Im not even sure these emails are from GOAT. I emailed GOAT directly and they have not responded. And when I check the app, all the orders are showing no issues.

I wish they had a customer service number I could call to speak to someone directly.

If this is normal procedure for them, maybe someone here can verify as such. And if not, and their email server has been hacked, I'd think everyone would want to know.

I like GOAT. I dont want to have to stop using it.

the statements seem extremely unnecessary.

as much as I appreciate GOAT, there are still a ton of things they need to work out.

Hmmm. I'm not a merchant but I don't believe that is how most operate. In any situation in the past, it was my credit card company who contacted me of fraud automatically if there was a foreign site they didn't recognize or my spending pattern was hit with a huge discrepancy. It was never because the merchant themselves were concerned.

Anyways, I think if it was a normal sneaker store like a Footlocker or boutique like END Clothing, they would just cancel the order if there was anything even remotely suspicious. In GOAT's case, they rather not have a seller lose a sale since that's literally their profit down the drain. I also don't think they would go over the buyer's head and contact the credit card company first. They are trying to confirm the buyer and cc user are one in the same person. If they can't confirm after all of the documentation they request from you, I'd imagine they would cancel the order and possibly contact the cc company. I've had 1-2 sales canceled before because GOAT reported the buyer had some suspicious issues going on and they canceled the order to prevent fraud "according to their email."

Anyways, I doubt any emails you received from GOAT are phising or scam/fraud emails but who knows. I'd wait it out for GOAT's response. I also agree that some of the documentation they are requesting is excessive but perhaps, they want to be extra sure in case you place multiple orders again in the future?

So you can accept an offer on a shoe, sell it and then goat cancels it? I thought these apps were designed to prevent that

Imo, the apps are primarily designed to prevent being sold fake shoes or dealing with fraudulent sellers and/or buyers. Preventing cancelled sales is probably a secondary focus imo.

So let's say you do a sale, print the label out and ship within 10 minutes and get cancelled on later, that ain't right

Not how the app works. The sale would be cancelled before you could even print a label or even confirm the order.

3 of my 5 orders are "confirmed" and awaiting shipment from the seller

2 have been shipped to GOAT from the sellers

Not sure how GOAT is handling your particular situation. Everything seems off. I've had orders canceled as a seller and I never had the opportunity to confirm or ship them.

In your situation, it seems that 5 of the 6 orders are already good to go then even if they are still verifying your information/documentation.

Anyways, I've never been in a position as a buyer on GOAT where it was my information itself that was being verified. So, I can't really speak to that to be honest. It's probably not a common occurrence imo.

yeah, it does seem "off".

I'll keep y'all posted on how it plays out.

@r1ff  I think 6 shoes  in a 24 hour period might seem to an average person as excessive, especially if they're high dollar pairs. Like others have said, it's probably just unusual activity and they're trying to avoid fraud and potential chargebacks on their end. I do agree with you that the requests you're mentioning are weird and not typical of payment verification. All of that usually is communicated by the credit card company back to you.

Yes.

You the BUYER, pays for a sneaker. The SELLER ships the sneakers to GOAT first for authentication, once authenticated GOAT will ship the sneakers to you, The Buyer.

I've sold a ton of pairs without issue. Recently sold some HyperAdapts, they got denied due to 'being tried on.' I told them that Nike+ had me try them on to test the sensors before leaving the store, which is true. Apparently there was a small mark on the bottom of one of the shoes that I didn't even notice. Anyway, so they shipped them back... I had sent them well packed with bubble wrap/peanuts in a 200lb test box. They returned them in a 44lb test box with 'paper' as packaging material. I opened up the package, found scratches all over the bottom of the inner blue box and discovered when opening the box that the charging pucks weren't in place and had been thrashing around during shipping. As a result, there is now 'permanent' cosmetic damage to the charging pucks. I took the tracking number and put it into USPS to file a claim and it said that there was no insurance purchased for the package... a $2k+ pair of shoes, weighing in at 12lbs, in a 44lb 'max weight' box. I contacted GOAT and explained what happened and told them that I need to file a claim as they literally knocked hundreds off the value of my shoes. They're currently giving me the run around, though I'm considering taking legal action because this is really getting under my skin. Thankfully I took photos of the box/accessories in pristine condition before shipping them out.

Wow. That sucks.

This is why I generally dont trust companies that dont have a phone number.

Communication on issues like this is really frustrating and near impossible to address nuance. I simple phone call to you when they were verifying your shoes wouldve cleared things up, and Im sure the buyer would not have cared.

Wow, no words man. That is totally s***y. How is it possible they did not use insurance in the first place, and second of all they always ask for pristine packaging only to send your package like that?
