Man....sister has been talking about going to Disney Florida with my 7 and 9 yr old nephews for a month now 

 

I keep telling her to stay in California because its cheaper.

Ban alligators from entering Florida, they are great animals I have a lot of friends who are alligators and they are telling me the same thing, this has to end we have to be vigilant against alligators they are hurting us real bad we have to get tough on alligators

Damn.  Poor kid. 

I have 2 issues with this though....

1.  If there really were "no swimming" signs up, what in the entire blue hell were the parents thinking?

2.  It sounds like they were in the water in the evening, so it was probably dusk or nearing dusk.  This is when alligators are most active, a.k.a. the absolute worst time to be in/around water.

tell them to take them bro. These are isolated incidents. Orlando is typically safe. You don't see or hear of gators eating children often. This is just an unfortunate event. Just tell her to wait until september. GOAT time for the parks.

We'll see. She wants to go during Christmas time so I guess that would be better climate wise.  Meanwhile, I've been telling her to settle for Universal Studios Hollywood since its only 20 minutes away.

Why is ur 2 year old in the water or near it by himself? I know plenty of parents who wouldn't let their kid go unsupervised for a second even at home

They weren't swimming though it says they were wading in the water probably near shore since it's a two year old not like the kid can swim. What is key if there were warnings that gators are in the water. People are quick to judge but just reading the article makes it seem they weren't doing anything crazy. Plus gators are built for these kind of attacks.

Just a unfortunate event.

Reading it again, there has never been a gator attack at this resort ever they said so it's just one of those freak things IMO. Staff probably doesn't go around giving gator warnings to guest like that since it wasn't a issue

They could have just been walking by. Gators are crazy fast on land. They didn't have to be in the water for the gator to see a mini human and decide to attack.

This is the main reason why I'll never live in Florida. Seriously. Big Snakes and Gators popping up on your lawn or pool? I'm cool on that.

Same here man. I spent like 3 hours the other day reading and watching Aligator and Croc documentaries. Check this out when you have a chance. Unbeliavble that this man actually swims, lives and plays with Crocodiles.
