The future of the nba is not in jeopardy because of no bryant for the last two games of the season especially when he will be back the beginning of next season. Lakers were not going to do anything anyway besides either miss playoffs or get swept.

He will be back n I'm sure he is OD'ng on hgh as we type so he will prob be back with not much erosion.

I doubt he's going to be a lighting rod like LeBron, Kobe, Shaq and Jordan were for the past 25 years. And that's even if he fulfills his potential.

When he enters the league - LeBron will have gone through his 2nd round of free agency coming off of a 2nd or 3rd title (or coming off failure) that leads him to who knows where heading into 2014-2015 - Wiggins might have his time in the sun, but it sure won't be right out of the gate. Unless you're a truly transcendent player or in a major market- you're first year or 2 just gets lost in the shuffle.

This thread might make sense with respect to Asian NBA fans.

Asian NBA fans love Kobe. Probably as much, or sometimes more, than Jordan.

There's no question that there is a ton of talent in the NBA today as well as for tomorrow. But Asia views their athletes like celebrities. The better looking you are, the more fans you get in Asia.

It's the reason why David Beckham is a god in Asia. Sure Lebron, KD, Westbrook, and soon Wiggins are all at the same caliber of Kobe today, however they aren't as good looking as Kobe. (No homo) so they don't command the same amount of attention and fans in Asia as Kobe does.

I agree with the NBA being ok in the hands of LeBron and the next after him since there's definitely nobody bigger than the game. But how the hell has he been the NBA the past 5 years if he isn't even the top vote getter for the all-star game year in and year out. When Mike was in his prime he was receiving more votes than Magic and Bird, and even though he has a lot of haters, Kobe even beat LeBron out in votes this year. And this is coming after LeBron's most amazing season and a ring.
