FOOD THREAD VOL. GRUB LIFE

Damb I didn't know they actually sell colly flour rice.
Gotcha find that.

Crust looks good as hell man.

No joke, it was the best part. It was amazing. Some beautiful places out in VA...good time to go for a saturday/sunday cruise and eat/drink your way thru the state.

Cookie butter milkshake!? WOW

Man, listen....it's every bit as good as it sounds. The little crumbles throughout the drink take it up a notch.

Google’d some images to share since I forgot to snap pics. It’s really good. Very similar texture as rice. Mixing the collie flower and broccoli rice is even better. I raid the whole ready to serve veggie section at Wegmans. Then use some of their brand oils like their basting for some flavor with just a lil bit of salt & pepper.

Bull*** on MINCED collieflower having anywhere NEAR the same texture profile as rice.

Calling it rice should be a bannable offense

I keep forgetting to take pics. I discovered cauliflower, zucchini, broccoli, & even squash rice as a great replacement for carbs at dinner. Wegmans has it packed in ready to go packaging & you just use some of their basting oil in a pan & cook for like 3 mins. Each of them have been so good. The zucchini pasta is pretty good to. Also have been stir frying some vegetables with some kind of protien like lean beef, chicken, & pork sometimes roping it off with some sesame seads...

I had cauliflower rice. It was too sweet. And the zucchini pasta I had was trash :lol. I found something called miracle noodles that lm gonna try out but I have yet to find a rice substitute so i avoid rice at the moment.

Yea, veggie pastas should also just be called what they are.

Cut veggies.

Nothing like pasta.

The cauliflower & broccoli rice worked for me. I liked the fast/texture a lot. :rolleyes Zucchini pasta was good for me to. Especially for a person cutting down on carbs as much as I can right now.
I feel you, not saying it can't taste good in a vacuum. But we have to stop lying to ourselves and saying it is close to the same textures of rice and pastas.

It can just be good in it's own right.

But it is subjective so that might be how you personally feel.

No disrespect

Check out Tacos El Morro, just north of the 60 on Whittier blvd and libertine. Best birria and cabeza tacos I’ve had outside of TJ. Gotta get there early. They’re usually sold out by noon.

yo ive heard nothing but GREAT things about El Morro! The thing is they don't have pollo, i dont eat red meat.

How do your friends/family take to brown rice?

Uh....my mom is kind of a health nut and she mixes white with brown but there isn't really that much difference nutrition wise.
My dad is an old school pinoy and only eats white rice.
My dad's family is in the Philippines and strictly eats white rice.
My mom's family lives in Canada and from what I remember I think they also only eat white rice.

None of my friends eat rice like I do.

Growing up in a Filipino household you cook rice every day.

Taste is always subjective. And your taste is obviously very different than mine.

For me the cauliflower & broccoli rice was very tasty. And like I said the only things I used to cook it was Wegmen’s basting oil with a little bit of salt & pepper.

Nothing doing about lying to myself just can’t have a lot of carbs right now & it really works for me.

The zucchini “pasta” to. I had it with red sauce & then even made kinda of a shrimp scampi. Even did a version of carbornara. It was all good.

Gotta get some of these lbs off but until then, I’m enjoying it to be honest.

I’ve been eating a crap ton of fruit too. Eating like 2-3 fuji apples a day. A banana too & sometimes adding a naval orange in there along with some seedless grapes. Getting down with papayas & mangos to, although I think mango season is coming to a close sadly.

Growing up as a Korean American, sticky white rice was a staple. Breakfast would usually be that, some seasoned spam, & eggs. If we ever had ichiban ramen, moms would add rice, kimchi, egg, & whatever left over meat we might’ve had. White rice was always a staple with everything unless we had a noodle dish which was rare. Most of the time it was the various Korean stews with white rice & the various bonchon.

The rare time we ate like “white people” was when we went to a Sizzler, Pondersa, or Rustler. That was like fine dining to us back then. Koreans are so cheap they loved the value of the all you can eat salad bar at Sizzler. If you didn’t get at least 2 plates of salad & pasta you actually got in trouble.

You’ll always find a small corner in an all you can eat place of Koreans anywhere in the US.

My mom loved KFC & Burger King too. Used to lmao when we had KFC bcs she’f give us the sides & she’d have white rice & kimchi...

BTW, thought I’d share this... Was over my neighbors the other day for dinner & they were butchering the Rotisserie chicken we were having for dinner...

I watched this vid years ago that taught me how to cut a whole bird. Completely changed my life. I was at thanksgiving dinner last yr when my in-law was also bothering the bird & asked if I could take over.

Hope some of you guys find this useful. I did.

I feel you. Maybe it depends on how you cook it but the zuchinnin pasta I had was mad chewy and almost uneatable

Take out Chinese is a crazy good cheat meal to. I’m going to have to cut down on the cheating though but not tonight.

The Rock’s Sunday night cheat meal is flames. :smokin
OMG that sushi looks soooo good. For me though, I never ever use soy sauce. Never use soy sauce in take out Chinese either.

Cauliflower rice is no good.

Tried it a couple times when I was on keto and just decided to eat them whole.

Zucchini pasta is a lot better IMO.
