Just got back. Real fun experience. Decided to skip the wine pairings in favor of cocktailsTried to go up to the Hudson Valley to do some hiking this weekend, but the hotels are booked solid right now so we’re doing a surprise 5 course tasting menu with wine pairings tonight as a consolation prize.
Should be a good time. Will report back.
We ended up getting a West Highland Line, a Cider-Car, and a Bites Back
First course was a tomato dill broth with fresh spinach, a “greek pasta” ball, poached tilefish, tomato/white bean/olive salad, and a dolma aioli (Greek sauce)
Second course was sumac roasted eggplant with barley salad, dijon parsnip puree, and pomegranate molasses
Third course was some kind of mix between an al pastor puffy taco and a pupusa. This was delicious, but seemed extremely out of place
I stopped paying attention halfway through this description. This is a piece of ribeye with a bunch of Indian-esque accompaniments. The meat was on top of some potatoes that reminded me of vindaloo. There was a chickpea dish that you can’t see under the greenery. Top left is pickled cipollini and spaghetti squash. Sauce is some kind of spiced yogurt. Not a combination I was expecting, but it was pretty good
Dessert was a tart that tasted like a mix between Whoppers and a Snickers bar, a coconut jasmine rice pudding with banana puree, and a brownie with cream cheese icing and ligonberry jam
Gonna give it a solid 9/10.
