Well, coincidentally the shoes came out during NBA 50th Anniversary season (1996-97) along with that jacket based on that season according to the 50th anniversary patch on the sleeve. Logical match for me in terms of accuracy.

I got the 2010 eggplants and they arent that bad,but those sharpies feel like they cut corners on materials...

2010s were/are strait garbage. The 09 isn't worthy of being compared to a OG pair of Foams so the 2010 being much worse was a disgrace.

I won't disagree with you about quality. Let's be honest, we're dealing with Foamposites released 18 years after they were released in 1997. Nike has been notorious for cutting corners and imposing higher price points with each re-release as time progresses.
I wouldn't be shocked if there are discrepancies on my Sharpie pairs. But hey, I had over $500 in credit to use on them, and I didn't have to get a used pair of royal Foamposite of any incarnation having to come out of pocket at a value higher than I preferred to pay.

A trash retro is a trash retro. No one who owns the 2010 should take offense to what I said because I myself own trash retros. I just got the CB 94 retro.
Nike has finally beat me down. They've won and I've given in. I'll take close enough over nothing at all. Why continue to complain and point out the changes and differences to younger/newer dudes when they don't give a damn anyway and will buy no matter what. Can't blame em either.

I honestly try to refrain from getting retros myself due to changes and differences you mentioned. Yes, younger dudes will buy them just to fit in without knowing the originality or history of them.
If you're content with close enough over nothing, that's your choice. Just never get something knowing about the discrepancies and disliking them just to have them if it'll make you that unhappy.
But I do limit my retro pick ups myself thankfully.

I don't want to come off as blaming the youth for all of Nikes troubles. Nike will indeed do as they want. The only way to get OG quality back is a strait up boycott of their retros. A task to large to organize and a waste of time when more important things could be done with that time and man power.
Nike still makes quality products. The sigs of today will be the let downs of tomorrow. Stock up on OG greatness Kobes, Brons, KDs, Irvings while you can. The retro quality boat done sailed long ago.

I own 2010 eggplants, didn't have an opportunity to grab 09s. I've only seen the difference in pics. Ignorance is bliss, it's hard for me to consider them trash when there are dudes out here wearing Spiderman foams.

Trash only in comparison to what was. Any retro vs it's OG counterpart pales in comparison 99% of the time. I'd rather have the 2010 Eggplants over the Spidey Foam off color alone. A ugly CW is a ugly CW no matter how good the shoe is made.

negative. i had both and there were definitely differences. the finish on the 2010s is gritty and they had quality issues. i returned 3 pairs to nike due to the "skin" separating from the shoe when tried on.

I wasn't saying Sharpies quality were better than 2011 if you read thoroughly. When I said flaws on that 2011 pair I bid on, I meant physical wear and tear, not quality as you ignorantly misconstrued.the 2011 quality is better than the sharpies
But I would never expect a re-release to be better than a previous as we all should know by now with the way Nike operates. Let's be realistic, a basically 4th version (Sharpies) will somewhat diminish regarding quality.
I ended up getting them since I missed on the previous 3, and the Sharpies are somewhat technically a new version since it was never released despite it being a 4th incarnation of the popular royal Foamposite.
Hope that clears things up.
naw.... you can expect certain retros to be solid compared to previous releases but nike has made you think otherwise.
for example, Nike actually re-released the griffey max 1 fresh water and royal colors a year apart. they were on point with each other. you would have to look at the tags to determine the difference.
the same exact time period, nike dropped the 09 and 10 eggplants which were pretty different in person.
i had the House of Hoops Royals, the 07 royals, and the 2011 royals all at the same time and all in DS condition if i remember correctly and they were pretty good vs each other. the new sharpies are "different" in my eyes and they aren't as defined as most of the 2015 foams imo. Lord knows why we got a 1 piece upper.

All those colorways were hot trash. I bought both weatherman and thermals just to be impartial and judge them in hand and they were pretty damn horrible. Spidermans were easily the worst foamposite colorway in the last 5 years, even thermals were better.
I thought the asteroid pair wasn't that bad but I never got a chance to see them in person. There were a handful of print foams that were decent, nike just went too far by releasing like 8 of them in a row.
