F1 Official Thread - Grand Prix of Britain

Wasn't expecting that. I thought this was going to be a RB track.
Either Merc really dialled in their updates or Red Bull wasted too much time recreating lines at Silverstone instead of focusing on this race.

It's probably just the tyres though. Can't remember the last time I saw 62 degree track temps.

What's all the drama about the outlaps about now
Lewis was managing the gap to Bottas in front. Not sure what the drama is all about but now expecting more long threads on other forums

That outlap was even faster than the previous 2.

are you from germany? Wondering because of the image

Nah, I'm not from Germany, I saw it posted in another forum.

What timing app is that? The F1 one is awful and I can't watch a race without one.
Not sure, just saw the pic.

There's a Sky Sports watermark so I'm wondering if it was from the TV feed. Software looks proprietary. Couldn't see anything on google.

I've never watched a race with a timing app. My eyes are already glued to the timing tower so an app might be overkill, especially during pit stop inlaps and outlaps :lol

ah ok was just wondering because of the sky germany picture

to give a little background about the graphic:
It's from the tv feed. Since this season Sky Germany has an employee, who's only responsible for analytics. For example during races he shows the pit stop windows etc.
Don't know what software they are using though. At one point they mentioned, that teams are using the same one, but not sure if it's true.

Probably a screen cap from the timing screen in the comms box.

Timing screens are SOOOO useful. Makes it a lot easier to follow a race. I can see where everyone is, what the gaps are, what their pace is and if under/overcuts are working and even gaps for the pit-delta, to see where a driver will rejoin the race. I feel so lost without it.

I can imagine.
I've seen a couple on Twitch streams. MIght have to go find a look at them to get the full experience.

Good job frp, Gasly and the Alpines. Didn't even notice at first what a good job they did.

The last month reminds us, that Motorsport on every level is always dangerous (2 wheels and 4 wheels).
Even with todays level of safety, they still risk their life's while racing.

the gap between lando and danny ric blows my mind. i know lando is the goods and all but damn
Just goes to show how tricky the car is to drive and how different cars can have hugely different characteristics. I think many ppl think the drivers can just jump in and 'do their thing', but obvs not. And of course, no one should doubt Danny's abilities. We've seen it with the RBR and now we're seeing it with the McLaren.

But then, there are also the idiots on Twitter who are saying "mCLaRen SHouLD FiRe DaNNy riC!" 🙄
Yeah, 11 rounds into his 1st season with the team and right before a huge regulations change... yeah. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Horrendous start for Bottas and Max

That first corner was a killer for a few drivers sheesh, Lewis could not have come out better

Looks like Leclerc, Bottas and Stroll are the early casualties after turn 1

Oh my god Bottas what are you doing…
Such a good performance yesterday and now this…

Bottas with the snooker move.
His start has been bad all season.

Man Stroll just completely wrecked the Ferrari
