Boston is notorious for prejudice and racism so it wouldn't surprise me a mention of a suspected bomber practicing Islam would result in a "us vs. them" mentality and all the "patriotism" resulting from his capture.

Takin it back to the 70's I see. Like those college kids celebrating last night are all local descendants of those directly involved with desegregation 40 years ago.

Chanting USA is showing support for the FBI, Boston PD, and countless others who sacrificed and put their lives on the line to help the city get back to a sense of normalcy after 5 days of utter chaos and terror. I have a sense of pride with my country after seeing a bunch of people working together to help apprehend these monsters who reigned terror on innocent people who were just out enjoying a beautiful day in Boston. We chant "USA" because we have pride. There is ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with it and you could tell from looking at the faces of those who were on the streets last night, there was a sense of relief. People in Boston and other surrounding areas were essentially prisoners in their own homes due to the uncertainty and potential danger that was in their community. I'm sorry that you can't see beyond your own skepticism as to why people are elated, but there was good reason for the celebration last night. It's a shame it came at the cost of lives lost and injured people, but having everyone join together in this fight only confirmed how much I love this country. If I was there, I would have been right there on the streets chanting "USA" as well.

Man...I said it like two or three times already. I have no problem with people celebrating the capture and death of the terrorists. I have no problem with people being happy about this. I really don't know how to say this in another way.

All of the incidents I gave were acts of terrorism. But according to your criteria, people should have been chanting USA after every one of those incidents because American's don't stand for terrorism, right?

It doesn't make sense to you, because in your mind, the police found this guy in the street, propped him up on the hood of their car Mad Max style, and paraded him around Boston before bringing him to jail. The Patriot Day marathon bombing never happened. The shootout in the middle of the night never happened. The National Guard, FBI, SWAT and all levels of New England police forces descending on Boston didn't happen. The 18 straight hours of lockdown and news coverage didn't happen. The gov't men in fatigues searching homes and patrolling neighborhoods didn't happen. None of that happened.

Just a regular police arrest of some kid who's not as Anglo as the stereotypical Boston kid, and all of the sudden the rednecks start chanting U-S-A.
