A 71-year-old woman delivering newspapers with her daughter remained in intensive care Thursday night after she was shot twice in the back by Los Angeles police detectives during a massive manhunt for a fugitive ex-LAPD officer, according to the womens' attorney.

Emma Hernandez was delivering the Los Angeles Times with her daughter, Margie Carranza, 47, in Torrance early Thursday when police officers apparently mistook their pickup for that of Christopher Jordan Dorner, the 33-year-old fugitive suspected of killing three people and injuring two others.

Hernandez was in stable condition late Thursday.

The officers riddled the women's blue pickup with bullets in the 19500 block of Redbeam Avenue. Carranza was also hit, according to attorney Glen T. Jonas, and received stitches to a finger.

"The problem with the situation is it looked like the police had the goal of administering street justice and in so doing, didn't take the time to notice that these two older, small Latina women don't look like a large black man," Jonas said.

If he was as prepared and calculated in his efforts to seek justice as he is with this vigilantism, something could have been done. He's obviously not the only one affected by the crooked ways of the LAPD. Being someone who served both the country and his community, I think he deserves the respect to be heard; and had he gone about it the right away, even if his efforts weren't initially successful, he should have kept fighting the good fight. He gave up.

Bodying innocent people destroys this dude's legitimacy completely. Now the media will portray him as a no better than a psychopathic mass shooter ala Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris who thought they were righteously killing "bullies." Dude had so many options. But like others have said he obviously reached his breaking point and became so desperate that all logic and reason went out the window.

Last season, Quan helped guide the Titans to an 11-19 overall record, a two game improvement from a year ago. FOH with that race card cop out. I work with underprivileged youths at a juvenile detention/treatment facility on a part time basis, used to be FT. 90% are minorities. I help these kids learn life skills and coping skills to hopefully eliminate their risk to recidivate. Find them jobs, teach them sports, show them how to write resumes, feed them, cloth them, find them families. It pays next to nothing and the hours blow. I don't need to do it. There's almost nothing redeeming about it. I do it because I know it's a cold ***** world for kids who were dealt a bad hand and I knew I could do at least something to TRY to help and make a positive change in their lives. I'm not just sitting around with my thumb in my @ss being negative hoping bad things happen to people. Get out there and do something if you're that salty. Or just let **** pass you by.
