Does the upper on leather shoes stretch in length?

I bought a pair of leather lace-ups and the length of the footbed is good, but my third toe rubs on the upper a little bit. If I buy a wide or a size up,it'll be sloppy everywhere else and I'm a 12, so I can't just buy 1/2 size up. My question is: Will the upper stretch in length a little bitaround that third toe or am I better off returning the shoes? Thanks.
