DISNEY Classics Live-Action Remakes - Upcoming: Snow White, Mufasa, Lilo&Stitch, Moana...

It’s the pacing of the movie honestly. It’s the only real flaw of the movie and takes you out of the story often.

Scar doesn't look cool at all. A big part of his appeal in the original is his sleek, dark, and unique design.

They should have called it Jasmine, not Aladdin. It was really her movie.

Dude was a little awkward.

Geez. More snow white? We had that kristen stewart one and the other one with lily collins.

all these fairy tales are free for interpretation by any studios, disney just got the audience conditioned to think its theirs because they made the animated films

reminds me of a brand like band-aid, when you need an adhesive bandage people call it bandaid but that is the brands name and it has become synonymous with the actual item that many do not even know the difference anymore

Lion King can be (loosely) traced to the anime Kimba and Dumbo is based off a book/kids story iirc

Lion king isn’t a Disney original
This is FACT
But
Still one of my favorites

That TLK/Kimba situation is well known and valid.

However, The Lion King is still vastly superior in every way

My understanding/general theory is that several animators and staff on TLK were either Kimba fans (having grown up with it in the 60s) or tangentially familiar enough with it to invoke a degree of aesthetic "borrowing".

The directors denied it for one of two reasons: because they were lying to save face, or they were truly ignorant of Kimba and didn't know that it was being used as inspiration (seems unlikely).

Even the Kimba/Simba name seems to be a coincidence - Simba means "Lion" in Swahili.

Kimba's general story is rather different from TLK, as well. Kimba is more about the relationship between animals and humans, and TLK is a Shakespearean fantasy with no mention of humanity.

brothers grimm and og versions were pretty grim (pun intended) so its really not farfetch for disney to just be "inspired" without taking the actual story/details

one that always stood out to me was cinderella and iirc the original had the step sisters chopping off their toes to try and fit the glass shoe and the birds that dressed up cinderella plucked out the sisters eyes

another was sleeping beauty where some king rapes her while asleep and haves his babies

snow whites og story was actually surprisingly accurate from the non-disney hunstman version where the queen wanted to eat her innards to stay young or something...
