This movie is clearly and allegory for America's energy crisis. The electricity is killing them all, that woman was not hit with a sharp object, she was zapped. Am the person who isn't who they say they are is not the killer, but literally someone who lied it. Ie...you said your name was Tom but your ID says Bill.

That's my bet.
