Maybe you forgot when Morris shut down Lillard last game. But sure Chris Duhon with 35 foot 3pointers, and the worst guard defender is game changing.
Lillard is a rookie so there are games where he is a bit inconsistent; guarantee it's not due to Morris's shut down defense.

The combination of Pau and Dwight not showing up on offense is what lost this game (then again, I'm from the school of thought that this team will never be a good defensive team, so I am content just to live with the horrible defense because I know it won't get exponentially better).

No inside scoring and no three point scoring (3-22) will result in a loss for this team every time. I don't expect this to happen too often, so it is what it is.

A positive was the lack of turnovers... seems to be something that has started to go away with Nash handling the ball since he has been back.

It just sucks that they really need to win all these relatively "easy" games now because of the earlier season struggles/injuries/changes. So, games like this are magnified.

Also, games like this make me think Dwight and Pau can't be on the court together... if Pau can't hit anything, that means no spacing... and that means trouble.

What is Morris.. He's not a 10 year vet.

Nonetheless the argument of who is a better defender between Morris and Duhon is inarguable.

Oh, Morris > Duhon defensively.

You mentioning Lillard made me a bit upset because of his poor performance against the Lakers, since I am such a big fan of Lillard and will always be biased.  I just don't believe it was due to Morris's defense that gave Lillard a tough time, sometimes you just have a bad night.

Yeah but you can look at that game he played against us at the beginning of the year to the one a few night ago. One difference was Morris played him half the minutes and played constant pressure.

I understand what you mean, but nonetheless the Lakers just need a new back up point guard.

Lakers are 7 games behind W/L from where they should be at this point. Coincidently, they've blown 8 games that they've had chances in, or had the lead late.

Hope isn't lost..

But there is 2 problems.. We have two holes in our rotation.

Typically a rotation is 10 guys that you wouldn't be concerned giving 24 minutes a night if you needed to. 24 x 10 = 240. 48 x 5 = 240. Just did that to illustrate my point.

Currently we have 7. Nash, Kobe, Metta, Pau, Dwight, Meeks, Hill.

I wouldn't mind giving any of those guys 24 minutes a night. Jamison counts as 8, but he's never playing again. But still with the amount of minutes over 24 that Kobe, Dwight, Nash are he still counts.

So we are 2 short of the idea.

Morris is good defensively. Ok offensively, but this year he wasn't fully ready. And I said it day 1. But he's the best option we have for backup PG.
Duhon isn't worth playing
And unless Blake wants to play 12 & 5 ball, he's pointless as well.

We have no backup PG or starting SG or Small Forward (Whatever we need based on this Mike D'Antoni rotation).

You can ***** all you want about me bringing up his name all the time, but he's worth a shot. Start him at the 2 if we play a quick guard. If not then move him to backup duties.

And then we need just 1 more guy, which would have to wait a month.

Also with that 24 minute thing. Everyone's minutes need to be reduced. There is no excuse for it anymore. Kobe needs to be down to 35. Dwight 34. Pau 29. Nash 30. Meeks 20. Metta 26. Hill 18. No one is playing too many minutes, and people can stay fresh.

That is 191 minutes. Which is 49 minutes short of an entire rotation.. Aka 2 guys that you trust with 24 minutes per game.

Now y'all are comin up with algebraic formulas in order to get wins and explain losses.

Haha, gotta love Essential.

Defense sucked. oh wait... Mike D in the house ladies and gentlemen.
Players lack motivation as well. :{ :{ :{ :{

D'Antoni needs to lower the pride and play jamison, especially with Pau going 2-12

no time for teaching a veteran who can help a drawn out lesson when the team struggling like this

i may have missed it, but has the team ever gone over .500 this season? I'm hoping they can turn this around soon and get to winning consistently, or at least win the games that they are supposed to win while still figuring out their identity.

Pau is done as starter material. He could not even dunk the ball after that play when he got blocked. He was under the basket by himself and got blocked. He seriously needs a better training routine in the offseason. Every year he is more flabby n sick. Disgusting.

lol is it too late for a reality check? hahaha I hope this team has figured out that they are not as good as they think they are...

Nash - playing excellent, gotta work on his D a lil more
Dwight - trying to be too basic with his offensive moves (very predictable), needs to stop putting the ball down and learn how to make off balanced shots.

Pau - get the F out of here already... always whining about not getting the ball down low but he out there ready to shoot 3's like some bonifide 3 point shooter... 2 for 12 and played like a lil B that he is... injuries my @$S, go to back to Spain and play over there you fraud.

Kobe - instead of taking stupid shots, he should dribble drive and create for his teammates... STOP GAMBLING ON DEFENSE YOU MORON. His post game interviews and trying to sound tough by cussing, got old super fast. I wonder if he could still tell the media to shut up like he did in the beginning of the season with his 15-16 record, it's his team right? it kinda reminded me of the "Im not worried" fans that exist on this thread :lol I wonder if some of yall were just being cocky or just plain delusional and chose to ignore warning signs

clips and their fans will be amped up this friday, I actually just hope we play a respectable game and not get embarrassed.

And July they were saying this team is built for a championship.
Artest was saying they be goin 73-9.
Meme's were made showing Lebron being scared.

Hahahahahahaha
No team is scared of this pathetic excuse for a team.
Throw your championship aspirations out the window.
Stop talkin bout signing West, trading Twan blah blah blah
Lakers always ring or bust.
Not this year. Hell no.
Kobe's twilight years are being wasted.

Pau and Dwight combined for 3 - 19 :x :{

They can't hold anybody under 100 pts. The defense has been garbage this year.

It is what it is yo.

Some nights we want to play, some nights we don't. But no defense is played every night that's for damn sure.

You can attribute it to the coach, the players, or both. Ill let you guys decide.

It's sad watching Pau and Dwight look so lost on defense. How many open jumpers is Spencer Hawes going to get when he's clearly on fire? Doesn't take a damn rocket scientist to put a man on him damn.

I wanna keep going but I can't, this team makes me too mad. I swear I can't even just blame one person it's everyone. Yes, everyone. Even Kobe pissed me off with those ridiculous 3's in the closing minutes. Dude is being doubled by centers and proceeds to chuck 27 footers when it's only a 4 point game. And when he finally does decide to pass he jumps outta bounce off balance and does a fade away Lob pass straight to jru who proceeds to dunk it on the whole team while Pau isn't even looking in the right direction.

Crazy man...sometimes I can't even believe I defend Kobe so much. Yeah he's great, yeah he was beasting all night, yeah he kept us in it with his scoring....but c'mon Kob dam...create some damn plays in a 4 point game with 2 mins left. We don't need 28 foot double teamed 3's I don't care if they go in or not they are stupid shots.

Yeah I'm mad.

On to the next one :rolleyes

I could care less about single game losses, or any of that. Never have, never will.

My only concern is one that has been following the player for years and years. Nash is one of thee greatest shooters in the history of mankind. TAKE. MORE. SHOTS. PLEASE.

When Dwight and Pau are not on, and we are 1-16 from 3, STOP PASSING. You shoot 50/40/90 for a reason, shoot the damn ball.

It's why I have argued against him forever, he's a great player, no doubt, but I saw Phoenix lose a ton of 5 point games where he took 2 shots and kept dishing to Channing Frye, or Robin Lopez. Stop that.

We certainly don't need to tell Kobe to stop passing ( :lol ) and if he's going to keep shooting 50% this year, then you add your 50% shooting, and eventually Dwight will start to make his usual 55% and what not, guess what, that's 3 key shot takers/makers making their shots, no transition D needed, put points on the board, apply pressure to the other teams, etc etc.

No more 8-9 shot games please. Shoot more Steve. Then when the defense starts coming at you harder, then you can start droppin dimes and finding spots for the others, that might get them goin as well with their defenders off them.

Time to vent!!

I live in Chicago and i stay up to watch the Lakers play...i don't go to bed till 1 or 2am
I have to wakup at 5am and be at work by 7am. I cant even function at the gym. I go in there sayin im about to destroy my legs but i end up walking on the treadmill feeling like a girl cause i have no motiviation sometimes cause of my lakers playing so poor. When the lakers lose, i can't fall asleep for another hour. I am losing my sleep and my mind watching the lakers play. There have been times this year that i don;t watch the game thinking hell yeah lakers gonna win. I wake up the next day, look at the score and i am stunned that they lost the game and i end up laying in bed for 30min.

Go Lakers!

I never post after a win.
A win to me is a ring.
I blast them after L's.
My boys call me a fake fan? Far from it.
Lakers are like a "son" to me.
And they doin bad so they gonna get smacked around for it.

Time to vent!!
I live in Chicago Virginia and i stay up to watch the Lakers play...i don't go to bed till 1 or 2am
what im seeing is obviously, dwight isnt 100%...  he doesnt look as quick or as explosive as he usually does....idk why we give him the ball then clear out...my man has the same tired 2 post moves...and i love his spin to the baseline, if he was his usual self that would be an up and under dunk...but he isnt....

i agree with cp that nash should shoot more...good assessment..

kobe is beasting....he took dumb 3's last night in crunch time, but without him were not even in that game...in any games for that matter..

pau is so beastly...im not going to bad mouth him, we dont get those last two rings without him...dantoni needs to adjust and let my man get on the block...he is a wondeful passer, but him getting the ball high post means hes going to shoot a j, or pass the rock...taking him away from the best part of his game..

bench sucks, dantoni sucks..im still convinced that theres too much talent for this team to fail....

Stayed up all night to watch a loss... AGAIN!

We're going to tip-toe around .500 for the next 3 months :lol

Just when we get a little streak going and feel good, we'll lose to a mediocre team and start lookin like crap again.

Trust me CP, I know regular season losses happen. I don't put too much importance into every single regular season game.

However, when the same flaws and mistakes are the reasons you keep losin those regular season games then something's just not right.

Acceptable reasons to lose regular season games:
-2nd night of a back to back
-long road trip
-bein tired and worn out from a streak of hard play and effort
-being outplayed by a team that is better
-being out hustled by a team that is younger, quicker, more talented
-simply having an off night and not hitting shots you usually make as a team, it happens

Not acceptable reasons to lose regular season games:

-Being out hustled by mediocre players who aren't known to be fast
-being lazy as hell on defense
-allowing the opponent to shoot way too many open shots
-lack of passin and ball movement
-players taking rediculous shots in clutch moments when they are doubled or triple teamed, clearly having teammates open.
-not getting the big men involved in the post early to establish a rhythm
-missing Half of your free throws every damn game
-losing to a mediocre team at home after a long 2 days of rest
-not playing a lick of defense (saying it again for emphasis) every damn night
-being LAZY in transition defense, I mean absolutely lazy!!!! :|

Yeah losses happen from time to time for everyone, I know that. Playoffs are all that matter, I also get that.

But we don't have any more damn room for losses man...especially to mediocre teams.
Save these losses for the miamis, the okcs, the San Antonio's if you want...but damnit were not even .500 right now and were losing to unathletic teams who simply out hustle us.

If we don't even make the playoffs then we can't say all that matters is the playoffs.

We gotta play better man, win or lose we gotta play better.

I don't want ugly wins or losses. I want to see us PLAY BETTER. If we do the wins will start coming.
