When Cornette said Sting and Warrior never understood the business, that’s why they stunk ( B Sox B Sox ). Basically, Sting was just good athletically.
Well he didn't exactly say they stunk.

I feel like Sting made a lot of money forba long time for someone that didn't grow up a fan and was just athletic. (Not what he said).

He was able to connect with fans better than most people of the last 30 years. That is part of underatanding the business.

Both had very little talent as well. Being a big dude with a painted face was really all you needed at that time though.

Yea but they had EXTREMELY high charisma.

Plenty of "Big dudes with muscles" came, went, and ended up as nothing.

We are still talking about both of them in 2020.

Sure technically, they weren't anything special but people cared about their matches no matter where they went. That is all that matters for Main Event level talents.

The mid-card folks can worry about Drop-Toeholds and Moonsaults. The more over you are, the less you have to do.

So to write them off as having "very little talent" and just benefitting from being big is severely devaluing them.

Not saying they didn't make an impact. More right place right time than anything. Good for them.

How do you measure it being "more"

A. RIght place right time

vs.

B. Right TALENT right time

Because again, plenty of BIG, "talent-less", dudes came and went during the mid 80s - early 90s. Very few made the impact they made.

Here are direct quotes taken from that video...

“He never really, as we’ve talked about, understood the business. And, he was never really a big fan of the business. He and Warrior neither one that’s why they both stunk so bad...”

“You’ve got a guy that didn’t really ever understand the mental side of the business at a high level, who was a great athletic performer...”

“You have to note that Sting got over better than ever before when he didn’t wrestle and he didn’t do promos, when he just dropped in, beat a couple guys with a baseball bat, and just vanished for a year or however long it was.”

“And then the more they saw him, the less it drew.”

“He had two catchphrases, one was ‘Woo!,’ which was Ric Flair’s catchphrase. And, the other was, ‘It’s showtime.,’ which he stole from Beetle juice!”
