DC Studios THREAD - GunnVerse Begins - The Penguin out 9/19 then every Sunday on MAX

I wouldn't knock if you liked Jesse's performance but who he played is not Lex Luthor.

If nothing else I thought the music playing as Lex walked into Zod's spaceship was perfect. Didn't have any major problems with the character. Knew going in that he'd be the most likely to fail and that they were trying something different, but overall it wasn't anything that alienated me from the character in this universe. I'd be ok with watching more of him. Still think they shouldn't have used Doomsday at all.

Can't believe I'm the only one on NT who liked Jessie as Lex and the narrative interpretation of the character, sans a few things I would change. I think OKB might be in my corner on this one tho IIRC

To the point where I thought it would have been cool if he kept the hair. The Earth-3 Lexcorp Zuckerberg misotheist mashup was dope to me, with the exception of the crazy. No Jolly Ranchers, less stuttering, more cold sneering, and no ding dong ding dong and I would be perfectly satisfied.

Me.

I think the idea was good, the execution was terrible.

Character was cool, portrayal was god awful. Up there with Max Dillon. The scene with him atop of the tower and he had Superman on his knees was probably the best of the movie. Portrayal was just awful.

Nope. I liked him too. A little quirky, but overall i liked his protrayal. It was different, but it worked for me. I respect the fact that others didn't

I liked him as well. It was different.
Used to my iron man being some serious dud, but RDJ made him cool, used to my antman (Hank) being a dud too :lol but I like Paul as Scott.

Now Lex is more widely known then them, but I still see this lex transforming (I hope) into a more serious chess player Lex. I did hate when he was doing the speech and he introduced Clark and Bruce together, and when he got all shy and the dumb jolly rancher. I feel his second half was stronger.
First half was really some joker steez :lol

If Snyder/Terrio/Goyer had given Eisenberg lines like Lex Luthor has in Superman: American Alien #4, the character would have been perfect to me. Just lots of arrogant intellectual posturing and a straight up superiority complex that he's barely able to hide.

The goddamn script was the biggest problem in BvS

I wanna see Jesse flourish with better lines and less crazy.

I'm good on anymore of that version of Lex. As basic as the story was, a Lex performance with gravitas would've probably earned the movie higher reviews.

I think the only child mentioned on STAS and JL/JLA was Desad. He was voiced by the dude that played Worf on Star Trek.

I know of orion and the gremlin looking guy, kalibak.
Your right. Desad was his right hand man, kalibak was his son. But from what I understand, isn't Orion Darkseid's biological son? Because he and Highfather exchanged sons as part of a peace treaty.

Yeah I left the movie only liking Batffleck. If it had better villains it'd be more respectable as a cbm.

Yes. That's what they did.

If they had someone who could look legitimately threatening to Supes. I think it would of helped the movie immensely.

Imagine if they had a more true interpretation of Lex delivering confident and charismatic threats and lines to the heroes of this film (like D'Onofrio's King Pin in Daredevil) instead of the goofball we got. I still think Mark Strong would of been perfect, but there's a reason why so many people were campaigning hard for Bryan Cranston.

Y'all don't think the character's going to change with the shaving of his head? I think the intention was for us to go along for the ride as Lex goes from what he was to the supervillain he becomes.

The way he played it was so bad, though. Only good moment was the Jolly Rancher.:lol

I'm hopeful that going forward he isn't hopping and giggling all movie.

Exact reaction

And I feel the Lex criticism. I already said the character was bunz. I'm just too in love with the actual concept, the mishmash of various Lex Luthors throughout the decades and Mark Zuckerberg. Not to mention that I respect Jesse as an artist. Dude is a good actor.  His plan to defeat Superman was also coherent and logical, until Doomsday of course.

Yeah his choices on how to portray Lex did not work, and the script issues left him with little to work with as well. But the character in BvS is still insanely well-acted. The little minutiae of things that Jesse pulls off. It's just for the wrong character. I wanted sneering, cold, dangerous, arrogant intellectual with just a LITTLE bit of nerd due to the Zuckerberg influence.

IDK if we'll see that going forward since Lex has already been outed as a villain/terrorist. Maybe he will. The extended cut already said he won't stand trial.

I'm hoping it switches up for JL. The popular theory is that Lex is responsible for Superman's return.

Both Kalibak and Orion are Darkseid's biological children and both appeared in Superman and Justice League. Correct on Orion being traded to Highfather for Scott Free.

Stop it. :lol That was probably the moment where a lot of people realized they were in for a bad time.
