DC Studios THREAD - GunnVerse Begins - The Penguin out 9/19 then every Sunday on MAX

Sounds good. Just hope it isnt Snydercs version of dark and "serious".

Grayson is a police detective? How old are these Titans suppose to be? Got Raven being bullied in school. I thought they'd be 18-24 at the most.

Damn Robin looks good.

Static! Glad he’s in Young Justice and they better continue on that Darkseid/Savage alliance :hat

NIGHTWING: DEADPOOL 2 Actor Lewis Tan Confirms That He's Met With DC About Playing **** Grayson

Here's what Tan had to say to That Hashtag Show when they quizzed him about the Tweet, mentioning Nightwing specifically.

"I know Chris McKay wants a martial artist, right, so that's out there. He's following me on Twitter, you know...there's a lot of good juju vibes out there for that. Nothing that I can say that is confirmed. This is a project that he's still developing and I sat down with DC, with some of the executives at DC, and they're big fans, I'm a big fan, obviously. My father came to America, because of Batman (Tan's father worked on Tim Burton's 1989 film) and, you know, I definitely want to see that come full circle and give back.

Im not trading in my Marvel roots, because they started me, but DC started my dad, so it would be nice to go over there and play around and find the right thing. So we're looking for the right thing and there were a lot of different talks and Nightwing was one of those that were mentioned, so we'll see."

possible MoS2 director seemingly out of any superhero or any SW films due to fans...

^ don't see that problem with all CBMs, thou

And rian deserves to get run up out the paint

^ don't see that problem with all CBMs, thou

if you're doing it in the MCU... any other studios already got sh*t on them just for taking that role but I ain't even gon' drag this argument

but i honestly don't think Rian deserves the sh*t he gets, i don't really think most of these directors do, most people just go way overboard these days

^ McQuarrie has Cavill in MI Fallout

Would be interesting to see how he did MOS2 -- probably have Tom Cruise playing Brainiac

I mean, ain't just MCU and DCEU doing CBMs now thou (been so for a while)..

My point whenever it came to the CBM bubble, applies here.. make quality movies and you'll be gucci

My problem with rian is the manner which he has chosen to respond, his movie had a lot of dumb shhh in it.. I get how some fans can like a different direction.. however, can't have that much going and not be able to acknowledge the criticisms of fans

DCEU funny enough has a lot in common with that, where legit criticisms get dismissed instead of focusing on maybe solving those things as you move forward

different point of views, i feel like DCEU tries to cater to the audience too much, the issue is they do it out of the blue by adding more comedy or hiring directors people love by they are trying to change, they just don't pace themselves but they are trying to resolve it, hell they had a whole overhaul of their whole department but most seems to want to forget it

main issue is they are rushing things including the resolutions but they do have focus on that and that is why we get a bunch of rewrites and big reshoots

and for cbm films, nah, people already criticize not just directors but actors for taking a role despite their good pedigree.. i mean really any xmen or dc films announced alone already has half the fans doubting and talking sh*t about it

again this has been discussed ad nauseam and i have no energy to tackle that today

but really that is far from what rian is going through, he hasn't even had a chance to course correct, he has one SW film and no follow ups to "do what the audience wants" but I am not an avid SW fan and I had no big issues with TLJ so i'll leave that for others to argue

i don't follow how dude responds much either but I haven't seen it to be out of line but again that is coming from a casual SW fan

at the end of the day, i can see why any director or artists would avoid CBMs or SW universe because no other franchise would get this much sh*t from the fans, SW is definitely much worse as each actors gets beaten to death on social media but CBMs are right there behind them

Yeah like the fandom hasn't been harassing him daily since they saw it. Most of them are running around like he killed their child. SW Fans are doing the most. And won't be happy no matter what.

^ I see your point where actors get unfair criticism when taking CBM roles, but I think that's just certain folks not taking the movies THAT seriously yet

But I disagree on DCEU, I don't think they have necessarily been trying to cater to fans.. I think they were in a rush for the cash grab instead of trying to actually develop

And with rian, my problem is how he has addressed the cristicism or at least what I've seen of him doing so.. it doesn't give me comfort for his feels going forward in that universe

Like when ole boy tried using the dark knight returns source material to defend batman using guns

star wars turned to absolute crap. The movie last year was a disgrace. I don’t know who wrote it, but they deserve the most blame.

I agree the fans have been overzealous

However, these things aren't mutually exclusive.. I think Star Wars fans were happy with force awakens and rogue one

I wasn't even bothered by certain things in last Jedi (like Luke at the end).. however, the dumb did bother me and it felt like a waste of time

force awakens were liked but too many criticism that it was just a remake of one of the og trilogy (that's how much of a SW fan i am, i don't even remember which one, forgive me), where's an original concept, why was rey beating kylo when she never handled a lightsaber before, etc...

Happy with Force Awakens? Last time I check everyone was mad because it was too must like episode 4. Outside of Rogue One, I don't think collectively the SW fanbase hasn't been happy since Episode 6

I think the force awakens cristicism came with time.. but I think a certain level kinda understood the need to bridge the gaps between old and new

Which put even more pressure on last Jedi.. which seems odd for that to be the film to attempt a direction shift, especially when you have other films sprinkled in and a new trilogy planned

Like rogue one was a new direction, that worked

It was disappointing that after waiting so many years they give us a rehashed movie for 7. Like did they even put any effort into the story or just played it safe by copying 4. 8 was straight up trash, I wished they copied a good movie for that instead.

it actually makes sense... people's critic over time says FW too much like the OG... so they change directions in TLJ... it's actually a completely different direction

while R1 had an ending to follow, it's different in a way that it's a prequel but to me it still felt like SW...

The Force Awakens was really well received I remember... The biggest complaint that I remember was about Finn. And that was from only a loud minority of people.

Still my favorite star wars film of the new movies.

I'm only speaking of the new movies but starting with TFA Star Wars seems to be going in a reverse trend. They started off with a bang and after that they are slowly losing their fan base. Just a weird trend that I'm noticing.

R1, was my favorite.. felt like a legit war was happening

Which makes certain aspects of last Jedi (casino scene and flying leia) extremely odd.. plus a lot of what was going on with Luke's character on his little island

Anyways to bring it back to DCEU, the choices they made with the movies I could see working on an isolated film(s) basis.. but if you're doing a universe, you go straight up and not the more unique versions of some of the characters

Also not safe to go with a director know for a very specific style, when other films have to exist within that world

It's just really hard to put a universe together.

First of all you need a large stable of characters you can build solo movies around. Not a star wars fan, never read their comics, so I can't say for sure but I don't think they have that?

DC has the characters to build around, it's just that dc/wb as an organization just seems clueless,so they're not maximizing their potential.
