I'd prefer not to date a chick that had a kid personally, although it's not a complete deal breaker. If the dad is not a psycho hellbent on causing an issue that helps

I'll put it like this. I'm 29 & my gf of 7 months is 39. She has 2 kids. 15 & 7. Both from a previous marriage. Her ex is a certified scum bag. My gf & I have a connection I've never had with anyone before. And vice versa.

The thing with dealing with the kids is balance in the relationship. There both good kids but have there moments. I accepted that I'm not #1 in her life. Her kids are tied for that spot. I'm in that somewhat of a distant #2. I'm cool with it.

There's been times when just me & her had plans & things come up last minute. It sucks but it happens. If you want it to work and you put in the effort it will work. When making plans we try & come up with things ahead of time so we can plan.

I'm pretty mature and still haven't been able to wrap my mind around having smash sessions with someone that already had a smash session with someone else and nevertheless a child. I don't get it.
