When I was in high school though, I’d always “back order” my Jordan XI releases at least a month in advance. Just call them up in November, give them the sku that they put in their magazine, and my size. They’d show up a day later (grew up in Wisconsin) after the release on my parents front doorstep. Super easy to get the cool greys, space jams, Breds. Those were the days for sure.

damn, wish i knew this jig lol. i used to always call eastbay when a sneaker launched cause the website always crashed and it was so easy. just have a couple phones and keep dialing until you got through. once you got through you were golden. copped cool greys, concords and grinches off the eastbay hotline lol. i live in minnesota so shipping always took two days max, usually next day. Always a troubling sign when corporate mergers happen and then the smallest company in the merger goes out of business. Smh.

So in essence, Footlocker bought the competition just to get rid of it. Dirty.

Which is why I gave Finishline so much credit for being able to stay relevant for so long despite not being a part of the Footlocker corp.

Anyway, Eastbay was still good up to this year. They typically ran decent sales and you knew the shoes were legit.

The website was frustrating and wonky at times though. I had issues logging in and tried for weeks to resolve it with their tech support. They never did and I asked them to remove me from their mailing list and that was that.

Hopefully, those 200 workers can land on their feet.
