Pat,
I have no idea if you remember me or not, but I used to email you back and forth with Air Jordan type questions long before Niketalk ever existed. We exchanged emails a few times and like many, I considered you a true "OG" and a hero in the world of shoe collecting. Some people around here think that I'm a pretty knowledgeable guy when it comes to Air Jordans, but I have YOU to thank for that. Like DJ Kona mentioned before me, I modeled my collecting habits after you. I'd buy "one to rock and one to stock"....Hell, sometimes I'd buy 5 to stock! With that obsession came the need to know everything about them. I was and probably am still ADDICTED. I've attempted to "quit" a few times in the past but something always draws me back in. I suppose one day I can follow in your footsteps again and slowly get rid of my collection.
It's always a treat to see one of the true vets come back and say hello every once in awhile. I often wondered what happened after you sold off your collection. I remember talking to you about skydiving and how that was becoming your new addiction. I'm glad you found something else and managed to keep everything in check.
Thanks for showing us the light and giving us hope that there can be life outside of shoes!

I remember back in the early-mid 2000's, browing the Instyleshoe inventory and always
seeing sneakers that were no longer available instores, pop up, i always asked myself,
"good gracious, where the hell does this place acquire their sneakers?"
One day, you'd see a pair of 99 Cements for sale, then a few days later, Infrared 6's, or
some og neon 95's.
it was so random but it always intrigued me, which kept me returning to the site to gawk.
(i mean, he sold new releases too, but the inclusion of miscellaneous heat any any given
time of the week was awe-inducing).
Now, i could NEVER afford them (i spent a large portion of the 2000's in higher learning, so
shoes were seldom feasibly attainable to me)... but i lived through admiring them vicariously
via the images of that site. From a visual standpoint, the site was easy to navigate and the
inventory was large - you could literally spend hours just browsing through the rogues list
of sneakers and even learn something in the process.
With that said, Pat. Knowing that that collection stemmed from your personal gallery.. it is a
pleasure to meet you.
I, for one, wish i could treat my addiction like el futbol and kick it... but there has to be some
inherent/immediate tragedy/life altering event for me to do so.
Having so many priorities/bills/things i should consider because i'm aging... it would be highly
lucrative for me to bounce and sell what i have (because that many shoes for one man is
excess in the umph degree).
Any who, i appreciate your rant. It was eye opening and should be a marker/revelation
letter to those who second guess their hobby - because i do it everyday.
Cheers breagham Pat... cuz i know i ain't gonna be wealthy soul living by the sole.
and like a prom dress...
... i'm off.

Congratulations on your business. There is nothing more gratifying that creating your own job and watching that grow! What a great story, walking away from a passion (addiction) and putting the balls on the table. Business is up and down but if you have made it through the last couple years and are still continuing to grow, you will be fine.
Never been to AUS but one of my best friends is a Kiwi and I've promised to go back with her for a couple weeks and explore at some point.
Keep it up and you will get to your goal before you know it.
Have your retro 8s not lived up to the original 1993 8s? Personally, I think the retro-8s are wonderful. Yeah, maybe the remakes were a little bit different in some of the color patterning on the bottom-sole, and didn't have the nice in-sole either. And, they used shinier paint on the remakes, fine. But, quality-wise, I found the retros superior. I remember in 1993 going through boxes and boxes of original AJ8s looking for ones without overglue, asymetry, stitching problems, or some other cosmetic issue. I remember rejecting MORE shoes than I was willing to purchase. But, I didn't see so many problems on the remakes. The first AJ8 remakes out of the box were fine (x several pairs for me and friends). I just didn't see a quality control problem on the remakes. Then, on the black/red or black/purple ones (original 1993), the "AIR JORDAN" writing on the nubuck/suede would wear and turn white almost instantly (it's lasting a lot longer on my remakes).Originally Posted by krunkskrilla
