I am aware of that, but after you cook the potato in the microwave you wrap it in foil for 5 minutes so that the remaining hot steam will cook the potato all the way through and make it soft without burning it.

Sister got a new microwave at her spot and I had to test this out to see it with my own eyes.
Warmed up some soup with the spoon in and foil on top, nothing happened
