Man, a bunch of my buddies are from the Philly suburbs and say they live "just outside Philly" even if they're an hour out. I'mlike, I live in New York, I live outside Philly too.

Lived outside philly all my life and I've only eaten at Steve's or Gino's. So I can't make the right call on which is the best in the city(since i haven't eaten any other place)....Love steve's tho...always hit the one in Northeast, by the Nabisco factory and Philly Park

and people claim Philly (like myself) just as a point of reference I think. When I'm meeting people, I always just say Philly...even though I'm 25miles north of center city.
