Funny how those cheering what they did on Dateline are probably the first to whine and scream racism on here when police are caught doing something even remotely questionable.

There's a reason for that, it's because Chris Hansen became bigger than the show. For God's sake he has his own meme. Stop being naive. No one was watching the show to see justice be served. The mission of Perverted-Justice went out the window; the show was all about Chris Hansen coming from behind a curtain and saying "why don't you have a seat over there?".
If you disagree, then you have never watched the show. The man profited and made entertainment out of child rapists. How is he not scum? Why are you defending this loser?
And for the record, I never brought up his cheating ways, but it just adds to his lack of character. This man is the lowest of the low.

First off, the meme originated on NT which has no relevance to the show. What are you talking about the mission went out the window?, did you not see the conclusion of the shows where it showed the prison time those pedophiles were receiving. There was justice being served as a result of the show. Regardless of how it was entertaining or how it made him profitable. They were tracking and setting up the real scumbags who were preying on children. How else are they suppose to expose them? should he walk out and jump on them? or should he embarrass and make them feel like the idiots they are. Theres a plot to the show, perverted justice does the research, he expose them and then the police arrest them. To me it seems like your just backseat driving this issue because I'm quite sure that if you ever delt with an issue like this, had a family member go through this then I'm almost 100% sure you would want that person exposed, embarrassed and made to look like a fool however.

Ok then please explain to me how he is suppose to react or respond to a grown man who shows up with condoms and alcohol expecting to meet a child?. If you guys are wondering why I show this much interest is because I recently started working in the Child Endangerment section in my career field and after all the research I've done on this issue I've never met anyone who disliked what the show accomplished.

i feel the same way. im not trying to defend any of the pervs on there, but i would say a good chunk of them need help in life, while some of them like the guy that brought his kid along to see the girl are flat out scum.
there was one guy who got caught twice and if you watch that episode you can tell something is clearly wrong with the guy, he has a couple of screws loose where he might have been in the slow classes in school.
another guy who was a judge who changed his mind about going over to the house killed himself because even though he changed his mind, the cops came to his house to arrest him.
another dude was 19 and i think going over to see what he though 15 year old and he got arrested. yeah he should've used better judgement but damn.
these dudes are ruined for life off of a stupid decision. their families have to deal with the embarassment, their kids have to deal with the teasing at school from kids talkin about "you dad was on dateline" when they get out of jail from doing their time, the tv footage from their incident isn't going away. it's going to be impossible for them to find employment or have a normal life after rehabilitating themselves because they'll always be remembered for that incident which is going to be with them for the rest of their life.
like i said, some of those guys were sick perverts who do that regularly and deserve the book thrown at em, but you can tell that alot of them were people who made a huge mistake and need help rather then having their life destroyed for entertainment.

however looking back at how to catch a predator i feel it was handled poorly and in poor taste.
if you watch the show, you can tell that some of the people they catch aren't all there in the head. besides prison time, they need serious help. a guy that got busted once already, was awaitting trial for the first case and got caught again. i watched that episode and i could tell the guy that got busted wasn't all there in the head.
alot of the people busted had no prior criminal record and made the stupidest mistake of their life. my issue is that this 15 minutes of infamy they had is going to hang over them for the rest of their life. even if it was a one time thing, they pay their debt to society and get whatever help they need, no one is going to forgot about their incident which was shown on tv for the world to see. the whole neighborhood is going to know that guy as the dateline pedo. their parents, wife, and kids have to deal with verbal abuse regularly which is wrong to me. they can move to a different area but it's all but inevitable people are going to find out about what happened and they have to deal with that all over again. after they get outta jail, what job is going to hire them, it would be such a bad look for any company if they hired a guy that was on how to catch a predator that most places of employment wouldn't have anything to do with them.
like i said i feel the pedos should be punished of course, but i also feel a good chunk of them need serious help.
i just disagree with destroying their name and ruining the lifes of their close family members for tv ratings. cover their faces and withhold their names on the show, or just do these sting operations without the tv cameras around.

the guy that killed himself changed his mind never went to the house and backed out but chris hansen and the cops went to his house to expose him anyway.
they should be punished and in the case of the repeat offenders the book should be thrown at them, but in all seriousness if someone really isn't there mentally and they get busted TWICE they need help and rehabilitation, not having their problems be exposed for the world to see.
