only cash for meet up's and strictly money orders for shipping

i make sure i talk with the buyer by voice so at least you have a number to speak if their is a problem

no email

on the initial sale

you can also get a feel for the person your selling to is on the up and up
it works for both the buyer and seller

this works for me as most times if the buyer gives me a number its a good chance the buyer is serious and not a flake
its not 100% full proof but i been doing the same thing for over 13 years selling this way

never had any issues in all the years i been selling shoes

Also, look at the type of people you attract with what you're selling. You selling used shoes? Of course you'll attract broke kids for the most part. That goes for selling shoes in general. You selling car parts or computers, you'll attract a better audience and not have to deal with as many idiots
