Why does innovation have to be synonymous with changing everything?
And frankly calling for an App-Drawer, relevant info etc. is tacky to me and no one has done it properly or attempted to like Windows has, and even that is tacky to me.
I like uniformed and neat design. If I want something, I know which app I want to see. iOS is centered around app interfaces.
Graphical flare does nothing to add to the consistent reliability or actual function of the information itself. Its merely a means of repackaging data.
Android is really tacky in my eyes. I don't care that i can download other skins because many people I know that are over the age of 22-23 simply don't have time to consistently download skins just to make their phones seem more productive than they really are. Its not even that they don't know how or can't learn. They don't have time.
I consider myself someone who is tech savvy but I do not have time to waste with something that wasn't meant to work out of the box.
The layout of icons doesn't bother me and frankly I don't know what else i'd ask for. There are other systems out there that have other functions, but when you start tacking on randomness then it just starts to take on a sort of overload of information and becomes utterly tacky.
Android usually has that half-baked feeling to me. Its a great OS, for what it is, and open because it kinda represents google's ethos, but it doesn't appeal to me. The UI/UX kinks aren't really worked out as Android isn't coded from the metal straight up into the workings of the phone. Thats the downside of having so many android units. Apple nails UX reliability. Everything is smooth and incredibly consistent. Even the menu selection and software architecture is consistent.
This reminds me of when we finally could start saying that "The Spec is Dead" http://techcrunch.com/2011/11/14/rip-spec/
No one cares how fast your CPU is. No one cares how much RAM you have. No one cares how many megapixels you have (as MPs do nothing for the clarity of photographs but people love big numbers). No one cares what version of your OS you have.
