Camera Heads HELP! Nikon D60 vs. Canon EOS Rebel XS (1000D)

canon definitely has a faster learning curve. maybe not the menus specifically but the control layout and ergonomics of the cameras are better for beginners.even after playing around w/ a d70 and a d80 i cannot figure out how to control everything up front without going into the menus vs canon where everything ison the exterior of the body and makes it easier to make quick switches. either way you'll be happy with your purchase, but again i think that the canonlens lineup offers more versatility, especially if you plan on upgrading bodies in the future. go to any sporting event and you're bound to find a few ofthe "big whites" lurking

blah!

Good looking out on all the info!

You guys listed a lot of cons for the Nikon, but almost everyone who commented said to go with the Nikon.
The Canon has a wider range of lens available for the D1000 & its more user friendly?
The Nikon doesn't have Auto-Focus (which isn't necessarily a bad thing), and its of better quality?

That's what I got out of this. Please correct me if I'm wrong
