That is me 100%. If I'm picky about certain things on brand new pairs, can't imagine how bad it would be on used shoes
I try to keep my shoes looking as DS as possibly after every wear.

It didn't change.... I don't know what this guy is talking about he has deadstock in his signature to describe shoes he is selling this guy is confused

As long as I've known DS is meant to describe the condition of a sneaker.
Why do you think VNDS means very near DS.

You don't get to go around making up your own damn definitions when everybody else knows deadstock means unworn, brand new, and never used. Nobody, and I mean nobody, I've ever met in 10+ years of collecting sneakers has ever defined deadstock as out of production so get the !!$@ outta here with that mess. Ain't nobody gonna buy those "deadstock" sneakers in your sig man

LOL at the thought of dead stock including "never tried on". Unless you personally work at the sneaker store and open the shipment yourself, there's pretty much NO way to know if something's been tried on or not. As someone who has worked in footwear I've seen all types of things happen to shoes in the back. But go ahead, continue thinking they've never been tried on.
As for the other argument, I believe dead stock DID used to mean shoes that were no longer in production. It's been touched on before on NT, but as always everyone knows everything. It's been rather recent (mid-late 90's probably) that collectors began using the term dead stock to describe condition. It's not that complicate bros.

A lot of times I don't even worry about lightly spilled kicks because pretty good with cleaning up my shoes. I end up saving money in the long run anyways

if you standing in line to buy a retro form a retail store you are not going to get a shoe that has been tried on, managers I know won't even let people try these shoes on even if they want to. If I stood in line for a shoe and they tried selling me something that had been tried on i would be pissed, you can pretty much tell if a shoe has been tampered with IMOOriginally Posted by Nowitzness41
well thanks for clearing that upif you buy at a retail store, theres good chance they were tried on. But with all the online buying and line-ups that form for a lot of todays releases- a lot have never been tried on. But ya, its hard to tell if they have or not if the employee does things right

Its a No go in my Book.There are no guarnatees , what you see is what you get. The seller could have Athlethes foot or it could come with a terrible stench. if its a foamposite, the shoe was previously molded to someone elses foot. Or air jordan 16s tend to get a lump in the insole. They could also touch up the shoe and pass it of as dead stock. After several wears, you would notice the sneaker would fall apart or notice areas of the shoe that were touched up in person, where as when you viewed the pics from the seller they appeard to be fresh. And the price a seller charges for example the red foamposite 250 preowned, i dont think so i rather spend an additional 100 for a fresh pair with guarantees there new, DESPITE MANUFACTURE ERROR.

i just don't feel comfortable wearing someone's else's shoes so i always purchase DS.

I have bought at LEAST 100 used pairs of jordans over the years. ranging from worn once to BEAT. Regardless, if someone elses feet has been inside them at ALL here is what i do:
The shoes get taken apart immediately. Laces and insoles get come out. Insoles get lysol'd and then washed by hand 2 times with a scrub brush and disinfecting dish soap. Laces get washed as well.
Have you ever seen what the inside of a shoe looks like with the insole out? Its NASTY. Hair, rocks, grass, other weird and nasty crap.
So the shoe without insole first gets vacuumed. Then i take thick masking tape, and with the sticky side, clean up ALL of the nasty crap in the shoe.
The outside of the shoe gets cleaned. Magic eraser, suede nubuck cleaner, soap and water and a tooth brush.
I've made some NASTY beaters look amazing.
the only thing i'm horrible at is painting, i tried once, and that was enough for me to learn my lesson.
I've got some pretty crazy deals buying used. As long as you know what you're getting into. Sometimes its hard to tell, and the sellers are either unhelpful, devious or clueless. So it can me more work that what you bargained for.
And its very time consuming. If you want to do it right that is. Theres a lot of scumbags out there lol

Buying used shoes is GROSS!!! I don't want your fungus!!
I understand shoes can be cleaned and disinfected.
It's just not for me, I buy brand new from the store ONLY.
It eliminates a lot of unwanted headaches and questions.
To each his own though, I would never knock the next man
for rocking used kicks cause you really can't tell the difference.

The only used pair of shoes in my collection is a pair of Bordeaux and I made the seller refund me like $50 for lying about the condition. Disinfectant and baby powder were heavily applied. Once I find a DS pair for a reasonable price I'm getting rid of them though. Just tough to shake the feeling that someone else had their feet in your shoes. Plus it takes away one of the small sneakerhead joys, un-DSing a pair. For others who are fine with it though, I've been happy to supply them with my VNDS pairs.

I used to buy lots of used shoes off ebay a while back. Never once received a pair that looked satisfactory compared to the pictures, whether it was the smell of cigarette smoke or stuffed toe boxes to make them look like they were creaseless in the pics. So I only buy new now, I would rather pay an extra $50 to get a DS pair.

But I have no problem with buying used kicks as long as their VNDS & the price is right (significantly less than a DS pair goes for). If you're buying them online though a rule of thumb for me is detailed tagged pics from different angles (of both shoes).

Aphexacid is right on. With used to have to get ready to put time in to clean em up and make em your territory. Because buying used might turn into a project that sometimes you feel you did well on on or sometimes can never get right for the price. I bought a pair of used last week figuring to put a little work into them and save some money. 2 orders from seaglow in hawaii and hours of work, I wish I just paid the extra 100.
The whole rating system of VVVNDS or however many V's dudes put is sketchy to me. I think if a dude says 1 wear you should have your best bet, shoes with 5 wears your looking for trouble because the price is still relatively high and wears could be open to opinion since supposedly dudes like to ball in the most limited kicks they have. 10 wears is usually a project but price is lower so they are about your best bets for bargins if the seller respects his kicks like most of us do.

I have no problem buying semi-used shoes as long as they look good in the pictures that the seller provides, but i always ask one question....did you wear socks with your shoes. If not, I cant buy them, I hate feet. lol
And with the DS, VNDS debate, deadstock does mean not in production anymore, hence the dead in deadstock. If I bought them from the store and I didn't try them on they are new and I guess DS. If I've worn them once or twice, they are worn.
