Why blow it up? When was the last time they played a good string of games with all of them being healthy? I still believe it can work.

Not even close.....there's way more talented dudes in the East than just Gilbert Arenas.Originally Posted by TheKingOfVa

Nobody will every win anything with a PG like Gil.
Steve Francis, Baron Davis, Marbury....
I mean how many times do we gota go through this to realize teams built around these score first guards will never win a title or advance deep in the playoffs.
Now if you wana be mediocre, get a quick fix and get bounced early....be my guest.

Billups, Jason Williams, and Tony Parker where the pg's for the last 3 or 4 championship teams.
Teams weren't built around them. They aren't/were not shoot first either.
Jason Williams was completely different when he got to Miami...and they had Shaq.
Duncan is responsible for all the Spurs titles.
Pistons were balanced all over the floor and played D
And those 3 guys didn't look to get 25 a night.......they don't need to control the ball.
I'm talkin about Big contract guys that franchises think they can build around...

That leaves Gil as the odd man out. I love his game (when healthy) and he is a top 10 talent in the league (again, when healthy), but like the Big 3 Ernie assembled in Milwaukee (Ray Allen, Sam Cassell, and Glenn Robinson), this experiment hasn't produced the results like everyone had hoped. I just think that with Gil openly saying that he intends to opt out, the writing is on the wall. If anything we could do a sign and trade and see what we can get in return. Wizards fans, and also those who follow the NBA, what do you foresee happening here in DC? What could the Wiz get in return for Gilbert? Remember he has balky knees....there are plenty of suckers out there who could be enticed by a trade....
''This is not my team,'' Arenas said. ''This is Antawn's and Caron's team.''

Jordan has said the team needs to find new leadership during Jamison's absence. Arenas, who had an unsuccessful stint as a co-captain last season, said he is not the solution.
"I'm a goof. C'mon, everyone knows that," Arenas said. "I look at my elders as the leaders. I don't want nobody looking at me. How can I tell somebody 'Don't shoot that shot' when I'm out there chunking 'em?"
Jamison IMO is indispensible....defensively, he's horrid....however, it's the other intangibles that he brings to the table that are invaluable to theWizards. I think he should get re-signed for 3 years, and just serve as a stopgap until Blatche is ready to get starters minutes at the 4. Imagine Jamisoncoming off the bench. Dude could put up 15 ppg EASY. He's a great community guy, and those are the type of people that Abe loves to have on hisroster.
The writing is on the wall for Gil. I gotta agree w. Allen in that the list of shoot-first PG's leading their teams in the playoffs is less than stellar. The Wizards need a TRUE PG to come in and take over. I'm not talking about Antonio Daniels, because he disappears more often than not (I like him comingoff the bench). Whether it is through the draft or via FA/Trade, something needs to be done.
