Boardwalk Empire Season 5 Thread - Series Finale - Eldorado

The season premiere makes me even angrier that the show is in a shortened final season. Show is too good for this kind of treatment.

Margaret outlived Jimmy, Eddie, & now AR...God level character right there.
The only other person that beats that is Mickey...if he's still alive.

Mickey is the one character that will not die on this show. He is like a cockaroach

did they mention AR dying in the ep?

solid premiere, interested in seeing nucky and commodore get started, young jimmy maybe

my man chalky hit rock bottom, hope this season is his redemption

no al capone or van alden :smh:

nucky's bodyguard tho

Nucky asking if he still has the ear in his pocket

^

Meyer mentioned that the last place he saw Nucky was at AR's funeral.

So it was Meyer who tried to have Nucky killed?

I hated to see Chalky like that, but the payoff was worth it.

Meyer along with Luciano and others I'm sure. Seeing Chalky like that was painful mainly because he went from being a king to a servant. Could you imagine living in the 20s as a black man and almost being at the same level as a white man in your town? Now all of that is taken away, and he is put back in his place so to speak. Him not being able to get that drink of water was crazy to watch also. The man had everything he wanted before.

he "got himself caught" i think he said

That what he said

Wasnt that whole ceremony luciano becoming a made man I remember seeing a similar ceremony on the sopranos when chris gets made

Not quite.

how do they not include Rothstein's death? :smh:

If they don't, then it is because of the shorten seasoned which is stealing from the show.

The commission isn't formed yet. If I remember my Mafia history correctly the guy who he bowed to is goin to get power hungry too and they'll have to off him before Lucky takes over & forms the commission. I don't know if they're following history that closely tho & I wonder what's Meyer & Luckys relationship really like now in the show because they both helped formed the commission together. I think it was actually Meyer's idea.

And I think Meyer was in Havana scouting to open up casinos. That's the racquet he moved to after prohibition.

Ms Arquette tho :pimp:

I thought so too, I remember his story mentioning him moving to Cuba with his wife. Maybe Nucky's presence there will hinder is growth.

Yes to Ms Arquette, still looking fine. That size fits her well

Finally caught the premiere.

Nucky's Pops looking like a variant Tony Kornheiser.

Enjoyed the flashbacks of Nucky growing up. His past was mentioned in prior season especially the issues with his father but it's nice to gain more insight into that as well as how his relationship with the Commodore.

Chalky.

Hit rock bottom. I assume his family left him after Maybelle's death. Hope he gains some semblance of redemption by getting payback on Narcisse.

I hope the flashback to AR's death like PLVN suggested.

Nucky's bodyguard is a straight savage.

Looking forward to Van Alden and Capone's storyline.

Overall, enjoyed the premiere. This season is gonna be so bittersweet.

Didn't like the jump forward at all. I got really confused and thought "Did I forget an entire season or something?" I haven't been keeping up with any BE news if that matters

Jump really annoys me but I understand business. Nucky flashbacks are dope

Like everyone else I hate AR is dead..would've liked seeing that come to fruition instead of just being told

Really doubt there's going to be much to Capone's storyline... 1931 was the year he got busted for tax evasion. Sucks

I don't remember exactly when it was mentioned but I think she's been mentioned multiple times in the past.

I always thought AR's sweet tooth was funny... dude always needed his milk & cake at meetings

I don't remember hearing anything about a sister and I just rewatched all 4 seasons in anticipation for season 5. If someone has a clip or could shed light on that please do.

Gyp . Love this character, despite wanting him to get his when I first watched S3. Nobody, or thing was off limits to this maniac. "Im praying, you're yelling"

Rumor has it that Chalky and Daughter Maitland are dating in real life.

I  remember during the dad's death Eli mentioned that he was in heaven like their sister and Mother. Also during the episode where Manny took out Jimmy's wife and gf, he explained to Teddy his sister's illness and how Eli and him used to be jealous of the attention their Mother gave her since Teddy's sister was also sick with Polio.
Edit: Gonna put it in a spoiler since some people aren't caught up with the show yet

The funeral scene I don't remember, but ok. The one with Teddy, I thought he was just making **** up didn't put it together that it was actually true.

Thanks

The main reason for the jump in years is because more important events took place in the early 30's rather than the late 20's... Hence, the reason for not showing AR's death... They discussed it during the "Inside The Episode" segment.

Nuck's new bodyguard is a savage, man...

Gyp became one of my favorite villians ever during S3. Dude was phenomenal... So many gems and quotes he left us with... The Masseria sit-down...

I follow her on IG (pardon my beasting  ), she doesn't really post pics with her and Chalky, but more props to Mike Williams if he pulled that... :pimp:

Has anyone here watched Eight Men Out? It's about the Black Sox scandal.

Michael Lerner plays AR in it and I think I'm gonna watch it to see how the portrayals differ.

I've seen it re-aired a lot lately and I'm pretty sure it's available on demand but I never bothered. I just might now to also see the different portrayals.

Michael Lerner played a very large and in charge AR compared to the BE character. He was also less eloquent to say the least...
