My mom and her siblings were one of the first Black families to integrate an elementary school……in Detroit.
None of this stuff was that long ago. Which is why it infuriates me when white people act like it’s ancient history. I bet a good portion of the ppl in congress went to segregated schools.

I had a childhood homie (he’s been in the streets his whole life) several prison bids. He was PISSED at his family for wanting to take out a policy on him. I was dying laughing like boy you better straighten up. They know you might be out of here soon so, it makes sense.

…. And property taxes on most homes down here (without homestead exemptions) are $7000+
The average property tax for a home down here valued at 300k or more, without using the exemption, is a minimum $7000

Life insurance claims can be denied if they conclude the person was participating in illegal activity or under the influence of “illicit” drugs, and I’m sure both those definitions are used loosely and can apply to a vast majority of people shot in the inner city. Also, they can be denied if you’ve ever lapsed in your monthly payments, which is probably pretty likely if you’re already living in or near poverty.
You have to jump through a million hoops with insurance just to get a damn bumper fixed in an accident and you think they’re just gonna hand out life insurance claims?

Yup. Anybody near a hot neighborhood will get priced out. I had to register my first hoop tie out of state because Brooklyn zip code had it treated like I had gotten the Lambo or something. It’s already working in some cities, they didn’t need insurance polices to reduce homicides and crime

The problem is people (both inside and outside our community) want instant gratification. Nobody wants the long game of actually investing in neighborhoods and funding schools. There’s no quick fix for decades of neglect, racism, and just people doing dumb ****.
