We’re the only group/culture begging OTHERS to remind us, about US! It irks my nerves my guy.
I just can’t understand it!
In terms of music, a lot of us also like to downplay our influence. The Beatles have openly talked about how hearing groups like the Temptations and Four Tops HEAVILY influenced their sound. They were Motown fanboys.
Our very own people (not those us who who know) like to psych themselves out of understanding how influential we really are.
We’ve had as an equal hand in crafting the American landscape as anyone. Never understood how so many lacked confidence or the realization that our people have always been smart and creative
