Why is that so incredible to you? You’re dealing with a society that praises and idolizes entertainment…

And that FDSignifer dude is a clown and as self righteous as it gets. Dude is on his page spewing hatred and conspiracy theories all damn day. How do you listen to that.

Buddy called Kid N Play “Industry plants” :lol :rollin

Don’t get it it TWISTED… he’s all about the money too! All these people on social media getting monetized are all about the MONEY. Don’t be a fool man :lol :lol :rollin

You don’t know his lifestyle outside of his YouTube page.

The man called Barack Obama an “opp” what type of journalism is that :lol :rollin

Then he does a video like this…. But yeah, he’ll keep talking about EVERYONEEEE else who’s problematic… except the most problematic of them all :lol

I generally like FD Signifier but it hit me hes a leftist that just complains all day and vote for people like Jill Stein...theyre a little weird. Im more a Kamala/Obama type of Democrat

I have a totally random theory about a totally random NBA player.

Caleb Houstan is the greatest example of light skin privileged in NBA history.

He's gotten so many chances on the idead he's an elite shooter.

The idea that he's an elite shooter is mostly based on the fact that he kinda looks like Klay Thompson when you squint. Similar kind of of jump shot, but it goes in way less.

But he's only ever been a good shooter not a great one.
Shot 35% in college,
Under 30% in fiba
Under 30% in AAU

But he's been branded an elite shooter his whole career. Make it make sense.

he's canadian so i hope it works out for him, but I've never understood how you can shoot under 30% so often and be called a shooter.

I wanted to respond in that other thread but I will bring it in here.

Not sure if this convo should be had "around company" but I DO think we tend to stereotype certain attributes/skills based on complexion.

The darker the skin, the more of an ASSUMPTION the athleticism (run/jump) is there.

The lighter the skin, the more of an ASSUMPTION that the player can shoot the ball.

With the extreme case showing up when we were younger thinking any white boy could automatically shoot.

Not saying it doesn't exist but EYE never heard of that stereotype.

I mean it is an extension of the, "The Darker the Skin the more aggressive" stereotype that exists.

Shooting jumpers is a more passive skill vs. strapping up/dunking on someone (skills based on athletic ability).

Yea, light skinned dudes were still categorized as “black”. I feel like the light skinned = shooter is part of the “Steph Curry” effect. I mean…..Ray Allen, Glen Rice…

with steph and klay I think its a new stereotype that's growing.

Taurean Prince is the bizzarro version of this. 6'8 Darkskinned, dreads, he got branded a "3 and D" type for most of his career.

I feel like It took people forever to realize he's actually awful on defence. imo mostly because he looks stereotypical like he'd be a good defender.

This has always been a thing for sure :lol. The closer you were to white, the more you were viewed as a shooter/soft/finesse. Unless you one of them rough looking dudes, like a delonte or Mike Beasley etc.

Dark skins, aggressive, athletic defenders. There a running joke on 520 that the Hawks need some more dark skin dudes on the roster to toughen up and play defense :lol.

But yeah, if you see like a normal light skin dude on the court, the assumption is he’s probably a better shooter. Basketball stereotypes exist. And honestly, I find some truth in them at times.

Back in the day I would say the people that were given "On sight" benefit of the doubt as far as being a shooter were white boys.

NOW, light skinned dudes are given that benefit of the doubt and yes that's because of Steph/Klay.

Trae Young is the biggest recipient of this stereotype. Arguably the most underserving reputation as a shooter as anyone that has played over the last decade. Check the numbers, so inefficient. But he is skinny, light skinned, with "good hair" so he got the label.

If he looked like Briante Webber, he wouldn't have that reputation.

Most dudes with dreads that play basketball get the athletic tag. Same with football. I used to always say, I can tell who a playmaker was in the NFL on a random team, if it was a dark skins dude with dreads :lol.

People associate defense in the NBA with athleticism. So you see a 6’8 dude with dreads….mind automatically goes to him being a capable defender off bat.

It’s certain looks, stereotypes and archetypes that have been in the game forever. And it’s an extension of society

Are there any Caucasians in the league that you would say can't shoot. Only 2 off top I can think of would be Steven Adams (is he considered a traditional Caucasian :lol) and Mozgov if he's still in the league. I think the rest stretch the floor. "I prolly should be watching more NBA to ask that question" :rollin

Yea hoopin growing up the lighter and west coast dudes had a rep of having a softer more skilled game, aka shooters n scared of contact or driving to the bucket…while the darker folks had a rep for being athletic “run and jump” types especially if they were from Da Souf :lol

But comparisons are still based heavy on looks tho…If you light and jumper looks good you’ll get the Steph comp for sure :lol

Caruso in OKC is known as a defensive guard with a shaky shot and McConnell in Indiana doesn’t shoot past the free throw line

Laravia on the Lakers is known to be more athletic than a shooter as well

I think Trae’s rep has more to do with the fact he doesn’t care about shooting 3’s from like half court, regardless of the results :lol :{ …So yea there’s similarities in looks but he tries to play the same way so he got that Steph comp coming into the league

Alex Caruso earlier in his career. I feel like I’m leaving a few out :lol. TJ McConnell

Andres Biedrins……but he’s a Euro

🤔😂 is it weird that i kinda want to see someone do the analytics on this? like for instance do darker players tend to have more extreme anthropometrics like longer wingspans (which might make certain types of shots easier/more difficult) genetically folks nearer to the equator are darker & have longer limbs that stated professional athletes are outliers of outliers so maybe it wouldn’t matter 🤷🏿‍♂️, i wouldn’t be surprised there was some iteration of it already tho 😮‍💨…that noted i don’t think in my whole experience of playing sports i saw much presuming on the front end based on complexion but rather moreso in hindsight but i definitely can see it playing a big factor because biases, check boxes, & player comps are the language of sports
