Black Culture Discussion Thread

It started off funny and for the most part it’s not that serious but it shows how hive minded people are.

Dudes have no sauce and just wear what they’re told to wear.
Just like people on this site when it comes to shoes?

How isn't that statement true for FASHION (trends) since the beginning of time?

Also it's funny a black woman with a straight blonde head of hair is telling anyone they are doing something to be WHITE.

Never said it wasn't true. Just another example of it being true.

Actually for the most part I think people on this site are some of the most open to different types of shoes/wearing what you like. In comparison to the average “sneaker head” that doesn’t use NT.

It went from a joke to respectability politics and anti blackness. Kanye and them had cats in business casual in the club in the late 00’s and early ‘10s it’s nothing wrong with it. But once I see white boys cosplaying as Kodak Black and calling themselves YN’s it’s time to pack the joke up.

I think we are having two different convos.

The issue I had with the initial video was her saying those boys were acting WHITE.

I think you are talking about the part where she called it corny etc.

EXACTLYYYYYYYYYY

And again, why do n_ love giving white folks all the credit
I dont get it.

White people alhave a monopoly over everything let some folks tell it.

If a black person thinks other black folks need to watch how they carry themselves in public they get accused of "buying into the Eurocentric style of acting. " I've even heard some black folks rationalize it with, "Black people are naturally loud."

Hell, remember folks in here defending dancing at the graduation as something blacks just NATURALLY do since we love to dance.

Folks will defend anything and when the behavior gets called out its because we want to be white?

Nonsense

that she doesn’t acknowledge that dissonance is possibly hypocritical but doesn’t invalidate her point

Thought this was well known but people are just finding out

Unfortunately Damage has already been done. Will be a long time before things change, that's if they ever do.

was unaware of this but not necessarily surprised, they’re likely algorithmically latching onto existing trends & ongoing discourse, likely to legitimize their bot/spam accounts…that noted, whatever dissension that currently exists certainly predates the mass adoption of the internet/social media & has been building for decades, so i can’t ascribe that much influence to that being true

If people were DUMB enough to subscribe to this mess and actually follow the ideals that they had…. They were already lost to began with :lol :rollin :lol :rollin

We don’t need those kind of black people anyway

Isn't Crews a trump supporter or some weird ****?

Regarding twitter, where's the feature at. That would be great to have it on NT too. See where people were posting from

By some of these responses, it's clear women aren't the only ones who can be misandrists.

Sheeesh!!

What does him being a Trump supporters have to do with anything? Legit asking.

This is a story about a man discussing trauma he felt from his mother as a child. How are yall making this a political convo?

I assume he's using that angle to determine if Crews is worthy of sympathy

Please point out the responses that make you feel as such

A few young black men prefer professional/business attire over athletic wear.

Response: Booo!!! Identity politics! They're followers trying to fit in with white folks!!!

A grown black man shares the impact of his childhood trauma because his mother forced him to show her his private parts, then gaslights him / denies it ever happened, and his sister disregards his lived experiences and accuses him of being the problem.

Response: Booo!!! Who did he vote for?

A blonde-haired black misandrist shares her hate of and for black men, just because they wear clothes.

Response: Yaaaas Queen! Those worthless black men are just trying to be white! Never mind the hypocrisy of the fact that you choose to wear a white woman's hair color on your head - you have a point!

 :smh:

Yea that's a problem. I could see if the topic was about something Trump related/influenced/Political but this isn't any of this.

We gotta do better

Probably the same way Terry made it a religious convo. People just be saying anything.

Trends come and go, but the whole “quarter-zip” thing just seems a little weird because it’s a lot of talk about “we’re not like those others who wear Nike tech (or w/e else)”. I’m old enough to have relatives who were full blown into respectability politics and thought (insert clothing item) was gonna make white folks like you more. Maybe it ain’t that deep, but that’s just my perspective.

Terry Crews definitely deserves sympathy/understanding for what happened to him with his mother. That shouldn’t be dependent on his politics
