Man that video could have been 5 minutes long. Its so interesting to me how a lot of podcasts and videos do this. It feels like it's for people with no friends handy. You put on this thing and listen for 20 minute chunks or maybe hours, and just listen to banter with the thinnest veneer of substance, and it's like you have friends but without all the messy friend stuff.

What do you think about the actual content?

I thought that it was absolutely wild to title it the way that she did when she ultimately talked about some ****** racism she experienced as a kid in New Jersey. But a ton of it was just her talking through her own feelings about her content, while doing it with a mic attached to a fork, I guess for the lulz.

It was messed up what she described but at the same time she seemed to not even be certain how she arrived where she did. Which isn't uncommon when you're a kid. How's a kid supposed to know how they got where they are? But she said what she said so taking it at face value, that's messed up. But a 17 minute video for a 5-minute story....again, just calls to mind that thought about how some people need non-messy friends to listen to. Maybe on the bus to school. Maybe on the drive home from work. I don't know. Every type of content isn't for everybody and after a while it becomes obvious that the long, rambling style (I watched an NBA preview video the other day that was an hour long and half of it was meandering) works for some segment of the population.

Re: Titles

I guess I don't trip over the title of things because it's understood why people do it; which is to get views. So it's not something EYE ever feel the need to even address and/or concern myself with.

I watched that video yesterday and was disappointed. My thoughts were: this isn't the usual visual seen in a video posted by DC.

Damn, I guess its slightly relatable to what that sister was talking about...

So, I'm not just black, but I also grew up in a black area. School was filled with black kids, neighbors were black, found myself in mostly black spaces. If I came into these black spaces without putting on lotion, I'd get talked about the whole day long. Rarely did I enter these black spaces without putting on lotion.

As ive gotten older, I've been in less black spaces...and I could not care less about lotion. Marc Lamont Hill recently said he was the ashiest person you know...1) was happy to hear a respected successful black man also did not care about lotion and 2) thought to myself "only cuz they dont know me".

So I'm walking around my office today. Stop for a convo...and this lovely, sweet, kind coworker (black woman...) pulls out her lotion, reaches out to me, and says "them elbows" and gives me a look. I laugh in shame and say "well, someone's gotta look out for me...thank you."

Fully triggered. Ill be bringing lotion to work from now on.

Everybody's skin is different I guess but when I have dry skin, I itch like crazy.

Yea I really don’t get that ashy so I barely use lotion. Ill hold on to a single bottle for YEARS. When do use lotion is barely it’s barely a drop. I don’t like the way too much or too thick of a lotion feels on my skin.

So wait, ya'll just hoppin straight out the shower and going on about the day dry? No oil? Nothing?
Yea pretty much. I face might get dry in the winter but that it. That southern skin :hat Lotion in the summer is a complete waste of time. :lol

That's wild as hell.

So you don't just put lotion on to NOT be "ashy" you do it to moisturize your skin. Regardless of how blatantly ashy you are/aren't, your skin still needs to be moisturized. Prevents/delays wrinkling down the line.

I don't itch but having dry *** skin is just uncomfortable. I will say that once I started using Eucerin I don't get ashy anywhere but my hands (handwashing) and ankles. Elbows and Knees been good for a while. Almost like it healed them.

There ain't no such thing as "Southern Skin." If anything the MORE you are exposed to the sun beating down on your skin the MORE you need to take care of your skin.

We gotta do better.

Get yourself a routine man, especially for your face. Being serious.

Lol Its the humidity bro. You gotta worry more about being too oily and/or having clogged pores here. Thats why I don’t like too much on my skin. Right now, in the middle of October its 68% humidity outside. We talking 98% in the summer. Stand outside 10 minutes…boom moisturized.

You still need to moisturize your skin REGULARLY in zones of high humidity.

You don't need to take my word, go speak to a dermatologist/esthetician that specializes in black skin and they will explain it to you.

You got it though.

skin is the largest organ applying a topical element is kinda the last piece, lotion does help…eating a decently healthy diet such that you get enough of the necessary macro & micro nutrients, drinking such that you stay hydrated, & living in a manner that doesn’t constantly stress ahhht (which also includes some physical activity) will do way more than any lotion/moisturizer/skin routine for most folks (no reason folk cant address multiple things)

i stopped using lotion so frequently on most of my body because i’d frequently have crazy bouts of eczema that most lotions would irritate, but once i cleaned up my diet i can’t remember the last time i had a breakout & never resumed the using lotion like i did prior; now only use lotions & oils on occasion 🤷🏿‍♂️

Yes, of course having a sound diet improves ALL aspects of your life. #MagicJohnsonTweet

But you also have to find a lotion that works for YOUR body. Stop buying that cheap stuff from the Dollar Store.

BOTH things should be done.

Again, nobody that studies the black skin would recommend not putting anything on your skin.

Hopefully you are at least moisturizing your face.
