I couldn't tell you what I think the center of black community is, but I feel very strongly that it is not social media. The fact that social media is the center of the black community rather than just a tool is terrible - compared to other communities theyve used it to amplify their culture
How isn't it - most influences, trends, etc are from social media esp for gen z and younger - alot of them get more guidance from SM/influencers than at home - we don't have any institutions, we only voice our opinions on SM (ironically)I couldn't tell you what I think the center of black community is, but I feel very strongly that it is not social media.
Not to play the same card I did on dc last week, but is this really race based or is it aged based as you pointed out?How isn't it - most influences, trends, etc are from social media esp for gen z and younger -
There are plenty of strong black households instilling discipline and values into their children, the friends of their children, the children in the neighborhood, etc.alot of them get more guidance from SM/influencers than at home - we don't have any institutions, we only voice our opinions on SM (ironically)
Hot take; I don't think you can win the presidency with a white husband / white wife.
the "not like us" allegations were too easy to stick to Kamala.
Yep.I assume you mean the black voters (only) negatively view the white spouse thing right?
I would assume quite a few of us in those spaces would have a white spouse.Yep.
I used to think this only applied to black men having a white wife but I think it's for both sexes now.
From my understanding, yes. The judge could find it disrespectful.I wonder if the judge could've held him contempt of court after that and threw time at him.
Well it shouldn't be. We know arrogant poses have been a staple in the black community since cameras were invented. Just let us be free and express ourselves the way we know how. From my understanding, yes. The judge could find it disrespectful.
Yep.

I’m not here to label us, but let’s be real.. social media has become the loudest and most dominant force in shaping how a lot of young people in our community think, act, and see themselves. That doesn’t mean it represents who we are at our core.. it just means we’ve got to be just as loud and intentional with the things that should define us. . I agree the Black family is still the centerpieceNot to play the same card I did on dc last week, but is this really race based or is it aged based as you pointed out?

I don't want to act like there isn't a strong SM influence, obviously there is. But, (again pointing out how I used this same stance against dc) I refuse to let that be the description of what influences our people the most without pushing back.
When we put these negative labels on us, I liken it to how we were/are described as animals, ignorant, murderers, rapist, drug dealers and abusers. Do these people exist in our community? Absolutely. Will I accept them as THE representation of our community? No.
I agree withdeuce king
While I do think it is possible to be pro-black while having a non-black spouse, that individual is gonna need an impeccable track record of putting in work/notching victories for the community. I’m thinking on a Huey P. Newton/MLK/Malcom X level. However, charity begins at home, so whom you choose to partner in life with speaks volumes.
The black community is very aware these days of who is really down for the cause, and who ain’t.
Kamala being a former DA/State’s Attorney General with a questionable body of work did more harm to her candidacy (IMO) than who she married. Doug was just the icing on the cake for those who chose not to rock with her.
