Black Culture Discussion Thread

“Hey Snoop! I have a very important opportunity for you that are going to help with the initiatives, that you want to do dealing with the community and “the ‘Hood. We need you to show up, and we got a bag for you, and a bag for the community

The event is Donald’s Trump Crypto ball for his innaaguration :lol. The inviter is snoops friend, David Sacks who is a white supremacist that’s defending these rug pulls (to this very day) and talking about great replacement theories every single day on twitter.

Meanwhile, Trump is pulling rug pulls and crypto scams of poor people, merely weeks into his presidency.

Why are we missing this context DCAllAfrican DCAllAfrican . Yes. The democrats suck. But cmon man

We aren't missing any context. I've heard everything you've explained.

All I'm saying is I/We don't know WHAT has given/promised and what Snoop did with said funds/resources/opportunity.

I'm not even getting into the Republican/Democrat thing, I'm just discussing the idea of striking business deals with folks that YOUR people might not mess with but an opportunity might open the doors for something down the road that can in face help your folks.

Again, I am not saying I do/don't believe him; I'm just curious as to why we automatically feel HE (Snoop) is lying. If there is something in HIS past that he has lied about as far as this topic is concerned, let me know so I can understand.

As a black celebrity, isn't this a routine battle you have to deal with.

Do I get in bad with THESE people (I don't really want to mess with) knowing it could lead to me possibly helping my community?

I'm just thinking of how often folks have to deal with situations like that.

(Of course I am speaking of those that HAVE a conscious and/or giving back spirit)

But everywhere they turn there are folks offering them things that are BLATANTLY damaging our community; just saying it must be a struggle to deal with.

The people he is working with are GENERATIONAL LIARS :lol. Actively harming the community.

And he himself, contradicted himself within 7 months.

There is no problem with working with people who don’t rock with you. We all do it on a daily basis. Just don’t piss on my head and lie to me about it.

Especially months later :lol. He could’ve just said, my bad….i took the bag. I didn’t realize just how f’d it was. Or I did this as a favor to Harry O.

But to sit here and say he DJ’d at a crypto ball for Trump’s inauguration (with an invite from David Sacks) for the purpose of helping out “the hood and community” is laughable. You cutting him major bail.

I’m not saying he’s a terrible person or irredeemable, or needs to be “cancelled” or whatever. But literally taking the words/actions and seeing how things are playing out and squaring it against each other.

Trump pardoned Snoop's man Harry O the last time he was in office. He's not speaking out against him after that. This was a return the favor gig. All that other community giveback is just to appease complainers.

Not sure the youth are the target audience with THIS genre of podcast.

I could see other branches of the "relationship" arena but these convos seem to be geared more towards actual ADULT adults.

You’re naive if you think the youth don’t see this stuff. Kids are exposed to everything.

I WOULD be naïve if I thought the youth didn't see this stuff.

But luckily I said I didn't think they were the TARGET audience, so that's why I questioned why he felt manipulating them was the GOAL when they aren't even the target demo.

I swear you don't actually read what people type and just reply with preset responses.

Exactly. Those people are the very ones harming the community in the first place…. and in return gives a “little charity” or “bag” as he calls it… and reverts back to continuously harming the community:lol :lol :lol. It’s a never ending cycle.

Beat them down for a while, neglect these communities… then give a bag to someone like Snoop. Rinse and repeat

Playbook so easy Vick or Jamarcus Russell can read it :lol

Adults are definitely pandering to the youth nowadays…. I couldn’t believe but TONs of young boys subscribe to that Andrew Tate nonsense

The ***** Snoop has pushed Gangsta Rap, Pimping, Gang Banging, Alcohol, Weed……and a football team for the Youth.

When we really step back and look at his influence, it’s that :lol. The ***** proudly says “he took the dub (20s) worldwide.” I’m not saying he’s a bad person for it. It’s the actual reality. I can see him on the Super Bowl or Olympics throwing up Crip, walk into the liquor store and see his face on hella brands, and watching the nba finals and he’s doing corona or gambling ads.

Him, Diddy and some others look more and more like agents to me. Unless their usefulness runs out. Getting pimped.

Yea folks like Tate and others like HIM, sure. THe youth are prime targets for their content.

But I view that, "Adult Black Relationship Talk" arena as a different sub-genre that isn't necessarily targeting the youth.

I don't view those two styles of podcasting the same by any stretch.

Got you. Didn't know that. That makes sense.

 Honestly the first thought that popped into my head was them giving him a field remodel or something else for his little teams.

But yea I got you though.

Why not?

Did I miss reparations?

Why ain't y'all tell me institutional racism was over? :smh:

If the government decides to give reparations and cuts a check…..cool, but sitting around hoping and wishing that they do, or worse yet begging……good luck with that champ. I’m going to keep it pushing in the meantime. Ain’t waiting around and wasting my time for me. I’ll let you dudes and Tariq do that.

Institutional racism……rather than”slavery” as some of you dudes would say is still around champ. Best I can tell you dudes to do is to know what you are up against in that regard and avoid the pitfalls. One of which would be to not dance like a fool as you take the stage at graduation….that goes especially for the young men out here.

So black people expressing joy, after doing specifically the thing you are saying they need to to best avoid the pitfalls is where you’re mad at? :lol

I believe more than one thing can be true.

Yes, the reason Black people in the US have no culture before 1619 is because it was stolen from us by Europeans.

Yes, the reason Black people in the US are kept to the lowest common denominator is because of racism.

Yes, the reason Black people in the US cannot afford to be defined by racism or classism is due to the sacrifices of those who came before us.

The opportunities those sacrifices give us must be honored, but not at the cost of forgetting those that forced us to sacrifice in the first place.

LOL. For some reason when you said joy in relation to the graduation ceremony I couldn’t help but to think of Reverend Brown in that scene in Coming to America……..Say Joy………”JOY……I am very happy to be here”

I’m not mad at anything, just making a comment champ.

LOL. How did I know you or somebody would REACH all the way back and somehow bring up slavery/Jim Crow. If you got to go all the way back to those days then you already lost champ. Black people……the default card for EVERYTHING can’t be slavery/Jim Crow.

****** love talking about things they never experienced. Black people need to get off that. I don’t care how MY persona comes off……cause at the end of
the day I got the results to show and prove.

Anything goes unfortunately for our people these days. That’s exactly why the women in that video come across as classless, ghetto and or trifling. Feel free to pick whichever word you want to champ.
Because you have thought about....and block it out.
Do you feel it's possible for black folks to want to act with class/decorum INDEPENDENT of this idea that it has to be done to impress/look good in front of white people?
I think we saw it and do see it, a lot, actually. It just doesn't look like class/decorum that we've been indoctrinated into by white supremacy. Black/African American culture is a relatively new thing. A modern thing. We don't have thousands of years of traditions and lore(thats African culture..), so it's not going to look the same. Its wild that folks are sitting up here acting like music and dancing hasn't been a big part of our part of our culture since Day 1...Hell, to keep it a buck....EVERYONE'S culture, but we can do that because white folk? Let the child grow, man.

I don't think anyone is saying anything close to dancing/music hasn't been a huge part of our culture.

I think people are simply saying TIME and PLACE.

If the argument is there isn't designated times/places for the dancing/music: cool. We cN just drop the convo altogether because we will end up going in circles.

Some think it's a time and place, others feel there isn't.

Nothing more to see here.

Him and Aruna Miller are just weird, but he's fine. I don't know the dude personally but I've watched him a lot and he's not Eric Adams or anything close to it in my estimation.

He's said he's not trying to run for President and I believe it at this point based on how he's handled questions about "what democrats need to do" on various issues. He doesn't at all seem to be cozying up to anybody in that party so that he can announce a run next year. Now if nobody worth a damn runs, I can see him deciding to step up.

He's got the whole discount obama thing going on at times, but it's just his persona not his actual presentation. He's got the heightened dramatics almost 24-7, but none of the black preacher ability. So the vast majority of the time he seems like a weirdo, making a dramatic announcement about how hot dogs will be affordable at the stadium now or something

But when an actual tragedy happens like the bridge collapsing, or trump firing longtime federal workers for no reason whatsoever, he has that same sense of the moment only now it is appropriate and you see that's when he shines. But him and Aruna are definitely oddballs

According to Moore, the state has launched several commissions over the past 25 years to study the impact of slavery.

"The scholarship on this topic is both vast in scope and robust in scale," Moore wrote, thanking previous commissions and study groups.

He emphasized that after three decades of studies, the state should be focusing on taking action.

"...Now is the time to focus on the work itself: Narrowing the racial wealth gap, expanding homeownership, uplifting entrepreneurs of color, and closing the foundational disparities that lead to inequality – from food insecurity to education," the governor wrote. "These are the issues I fought for even before I was sworn into office, and they are the priorities our administration will continue to address, with increased focus and intentionality."

His point makes sense. This is a bill to "study" reparations. We've been studying reparations for decades and theres plenty of information already out there. The bill didn't even have guarantees about financial equity.

Maryland's bill did not require any financial commitments for specific reparation benefits.

****** love "coming to the table" just to say they were there and then go home.
