Do yall feel like something like a buy-in is bottom of the barrel because these companies should be doing what they're supposed to do regardless?

I don't know about it being dumb. This country is horrifically racist and sexist. Having a company go against the tide and stand up for the right policies in the face of what will undecidedly be an attack from those who are our obvious enemies and who want to see us second class citizens again...that's dumb?

Like I get it, the idea that these corporations can't be trusted regardless, and they'll do what you want one month, then two months down the line reverse their policies, but what's the alternative?

Should we not be selective with our money where feasible? I'm sure most of us have cards to one or more of these places where you can buy in bulk at a discount. Should you not choose to patronize the one that is actively making a commitment to give people who look like us a fair shot?

I'm just looking for the rationale. I'll call it dumb as well if I can figure out a line of reasoning why it is.

Been having convos with family and friends over all this stuff. After a while it gets to be taxing. Knowledge is a hell of a drug. There are so many businesses out here doing horrible ****. Just learned yesterday a business I go to once a month has an owner that's doing some repressive **** and supporting the current douchebag of a president. It's not a big business. I think they have 2 locations. And sure we can just assume that most of these business owners are trash. But some aren't. Some places actively assert principles we all espouse in here.

Like if finessence owned a car business, why wouldn't I do a "buy in" with him, rather than go to John Hawkins down the street who is supporting Trump and what not?

Its performative and does nothing beyond having customers spending the money they were already going to spend (if not more). Target, Walmart/Sams' aren't gonna be hurting because folks spent money on a random afternoon at Costco. This happens everyday.

Nah I get it. I know sometimes we get on an island and act like nothing anybody else does matters, but unfortunately these idiots have positions of power in many instances. They can take actions that start to erase our history from textbooks, from classes, from events.

They'll use that resentment to build consensus to take actions that will ultimately come to your door, even with the whole "who cares" thing. Because it creates barriers in real life, because like I said, a lot of these people are in positions of power.

So I was thinking more about the spectre of that. But lets see what happens.

I could be wrong but I don't think they will be that overt with their racism to eliminate BHM. I see them barely acknowledging it or ignoring it's existence entirely. Also I don't think they see BHM as a threat.

But like I said, I could be wrong and I do think they're racist as well.

Sidenote) I don't think calling someone racist really hits or does anything.
