I dont think that's region specific. Think it's just a speech impediment. My wife suffers from this. She also struggles with fruit...r jumps toward the end or is just omitted all together.

Speech impediments are probably more common than you think. Was surprised how many toddlers are recommended for speech therapy, my daughter included.

EDIT: Thinking further, I think you may mean the southern twang, Nelly-ish style of speak. That's not super common, imo.

Pretty sure the rock wasn't the first black WWE wrestler.

The rocks father wasn't overly "Afrocentric". Dude was a black Canadian. He didn't grow up with a black panther type of upbringing so why the hell would he have a Black Power tattoo? It would look forced.

The tattoo carries more cultural significance for Polynesian tribes than someone getting a black fist tattoo. It's literally a part of their culture for 1000s of years with a majority of men on the Islands having one, which is why it pisses me off that everybody gets one these days (cultural appropriation FTL). People aren't rocking black fist tattoos in Africa.

From what I understand the rock was also mostly raised by his mother. It wouldn't surprise me if he had a slight affinity toward Samoan culture. He grew up in Bethlehem, PA and Hawaii, his reference point for what is considered "black culture" may be limited.

Ahmed Johnson recalled a disturbing incident backstage; he saw The Rock talking with members of D-Generation X, and Johnson claimed that The Rock was denying his black heritage. Rock is half-black and half-Samoan, but he allegedly told DX that his mother slept with a white man, which is how he was conceived. One can only imagine the locker room atmosphere backstage, if The Rock felt the need to lie about his ethnic roots.
