I don't think dude purposefully leans toward ambiguity. He just went bald so the most telling black feature he had is gone.

I thought it was common knowledge dude was part black. There's a video of him break dancing back in the day with an afro.

Same with the rock, it is well known he is half black but whenever you take away a mixed person's natural hair they can look like anything.

i always knew the rock was black, that's why liked him when i was younger.

When the average person think of the Rock they think of a Samoan or Polynesian. If you ever watched wrestling, after his initial Nation of Domination run HE WAS BOOKED AS A SAMOAN. They proped up his lineage with the Anoa'ia wresltling dynasty all the time. All his runs when he was WWE Champ THEY NEVER ACKNOWLEDGED HE WAS THE FIRST BLACK WWE EVER. It wasnt until Kofi Kingston and Bobby Lashley won it then they brought up the Rock being African-American.

Look at that big Polynesian tatoo, why he dont have a Black Power fist tattooed also? lol

As I said, Im not saying the Rock doesnt love his dad (jhe does) or doesnt acknowledge himself as being black, its just that his blackness doesnt seem apparent to the average folk unlike his Polynesian side.

It's hard to book a bald tan dude as "black" though. And based on his heritage there's nothing wrong with this. I mean if he had a nice Afro he could have just been marketed as the second coming of his father.

The tattoo carries more cultural significance for Polynesian tribes than someone getting a black fist tattoo. It's literally a part of their culture for 1000s of years with a majority of men on the Islands having one, which is why it pisses me off that everybody gets one these days (cultural appropriation FTL). People aren't rocking black fist tattoos in Africa.

From what I understand the rock was also mostly raised by his mother. It wouldn't surprise me if he had a slight affinity toward Samoan culture. He grew up in Bethlehem, PA and Hawaii, his reference point for what is considered "black culture" may be limited.

I wasn't trying to be petty and my intent was not to argue that black WWE/WCW black champions aren't rare like in every other institution in America. I just think its important to know that the rock was NOT the first.
