I dont think you understand how current DNA tests works.

A person is black/African in my eyes if they are from Africa and have ancestors who are from Africa (ie slave trade)

You must be smoking something, so in your definition. EVERYONE is AFRICAN, so therefore we shouldnt have this thread then because since we are all African then why have discussions about black people?

This was my thing. My boy ordered a bunch and I gave my sample. I added my name later on. So they couldn’t have known who I was beforehand. It seems pretty accurate to me.

So you, black as night, can be black and have DNA from Great Britain, Ireland, West Europe and Scandinvia, but there's no way a Chinese person can have any African DNA in them? I may not have a doctrine Genetics, but I know you say things and literally prove yourself wrong in the same paragraph.

I will meet you half way with that. I always speak on larger general terms with statistics to back it up. I know a couple non black Hispanics that go hard for fighting for black rights etc, but at the end of the day they can sympathize but not fully since they were not black.

I could date Rachel Dolzial who has the heart of a black woman, or I can date an actual black woman. The choice is yours

You are talking 2 different things.

You do understand most of us black people on this side of the world is mixed with things right? Yes, I am black. My DNA is majority African. I have British, Irish, Scandanavian genes, but im not running around claiming them since I am MAJOIRTY AFRICAN based on my DNA.

If you see me you would say he is "black" and also from my DNA you can tell im black with other parts, but im still MAJORITY BLACK.

Either you look at the person and make a high level assumption (oh that guys looks mainly black) or someone provide their DNA (oh that guy is 81% African and 19% European)

It seems like it. I think there's just supposed to be a black culture blog. Don't get me wrong, I like a lot of their content and a lot of it is relevant and thoughtful. Sometimes they veer off into weird territory and a couple of the authors or just awful

The name “the root” comes partially from the PBS series.



We of course gotta question everything...but it’s a column that originated in WAPO for black people...that was of course already owned by white people back in the 1800s. They never intended for the root to seem “black owned”. It’s akin to LeBron having the Shop on HBO. He doesn’t on HBO. Or an all black show by black writers, producers on any of the major Media networks.

Educate. Question and be skeptical. But don’t fall for misinformation.

That is how you can help. Destroy the mindset within your own, the one that feels the need to be white. Leave the fight among Black people to be our own. In regard to dating and marrying, it is hard enough to be a good match within our own community. Black women are highly educated, and their pickings among Black men who are equally educated are slim. So when a sister reaches back to lift a brother up? A whole lot of insecure baggage comes with him, things that he needed to be in order to survive in this world. Why would she want to deal with that? A man who thinks that he should be more than her, then may be jealous of her due to her success, then being her supposed lover at the same time. I look at a sister like Serena Williams, and I get it. She was down with brothers for a loooooonnng time. But even at that financial level, and she dated brothers in the same category as she, you mean to tell me that it took a white dude to see the excellence that a sister like Serena is? I do not know Serena, as she may have her own baggage as well. But when I look around the country, then seeing some really special sisters and brothers out there, I really see the job that racism and oppression has done to the Black community. I then thank the goddess for creating a dominant gene... You can get white from Black, but you cannot get Black from white...
