Black Culture Discussion Thread

No black people (especially black men) who decides to build a life with a non black spouse shouldn’t be a representative on black issues.

You can’t talk black and sleep white.

End of story
man shut the hell up
the stuff u spouting right now is just dumb
what about black men who married to black women
who dont do **** for black issues
what about white men married to black women

like i get what ur tryna say and do
but shut the **** up
tryna discredit a black man on speaking on our issues
cause he married a white woman
how many black men married black women
who dont give a **** about our issues

Weren’t you the one saying that you might have made a mistake marrying an Asian woman because she never knows what you go through as a black man?

Anyway, I said this. I DONT trust a black man on issues about blackness when he chooses NOT to build his life around a black woman.

I said what I said. PERIOD.

Listen if you’re not gonna come in here and debate issues. Don’t bother @ me

A lot of y’all wanna come in here and post your little cute things like photos and pictures but when I say something substantive y’all wanna come with crap.

Just don’t with me.

I say this respectfully

Nothing shows a black mans commitment to his people than the vey action of marrying, commuting, and building his life around a black woman.

I am willing to debate that point.

how about u go back to the post to see what i actually said
theres some things that a non black person will not understand
just like theres things that she goes through or deals with that i wont understand
no matter how hard each other try
was basically my point

Nah fam - that aint even it.

Steve Harvey married Black women but all up in Trumps face skinnin and grinnin.

Dave Chappelle married Asian and represents Blackness lovely.

Bill Cosby married a Black woman but out here getting his Clarence Thomas on.

Richard Pryor married a white woman and showed mad love for Black people.

These examples are off the top of the dome but there are many more.

Also what of the children of these unions?

They disqualified from Blackness too?

Judge a man / woman by the whole person concept.

Doesnt make sense to be so narrow in vision.

Its foolishness to say a person is less Black just because they fell in love with and married outside their race.

Its really none of our business.

I mean whats next, a gay Black man is less Black because instead of dating a Black woman he's dating a man?

Ever heard of Bayard Rustin?

James Baldwin perhaps?

Also - there are ALL kinds of Black women in the world.

Would your statement make sense if a Black man married a Candace Owens?

She's Black...and Trump supporter.

The measiure of someone's Blackness or "love for thier people" should never be based on the skin color (or sexual oreintation) of thier mate.

Does it work the other way too?

Did Serena Williams stop being Black because she marreid a white man?

Everyone whose your color aint your kind.

Black people are no more monolythic than any other group of human beings.

We should be able to live as free as any other group and date / marry / have sex with whoever we want without some one calling into question our Blackness.

dude out here being as much of a prejudice person
as white folks :{
not to mention just as ignorant if not more
especially since we tend to pride ourselves on inclusion of others

Closed minds dont get fed.

Doesnt make sense.

I mean I get what he's saying on the surface because I actually went to an HBCU.

One day I got into a conversation with a group of classmates and this one girl said something Id never forget.

"I like my men light, bright, and close to white."

Mind you Im at an HBCU that is rumored to at one time have had a paper bag test.

Blew my mind.

So colorism / white superiority is a real thing.

I get that part.

But saying a person is less Black based solely on who they chose as a mate isnt the way to deal with that.

I mean I get what he's saying on the surface
i do as well
but a bunch of generalizations
as as u said his close minded thinking
is just making his argument seem so dumb
i mean lets be real
if a white or mexican or whatever other race said that
we would be saying sws all damn day

If a Black man/woman marries outside of his/her race due to social status? I have a serious problem with that. It shows a lean toward the superficial, and that sort of mindset cannot be trusted at the table while discussing Black empowerment. How things appear, should not have a seat at that table. For Black empowerment to become a reality for all, it should be about feeling, trust. Often times, you cannot trust what you see. I don't think that there is any doubt that you can trust what you feel.

People who date, marry to impress others, are about as secure as men who will wear a toupee, in the attempt to make his newfound hair appear real.

i agree
but thats not what dude is talking about
speak on his ignorance
dont just skip over the bs he talking

You gotta stop listening to clowns like Umar. At this point his common sense points about the state of black affairs are elementary.

How bout this.

There are black billionaires why probably wouldn't give Umar a dime. Especially since he got his hand out but wanna insult a man on his choice in women.

Not all black ppl are good ppl.
A lot of white supremacist are black.

The only thing I’ll add is that if you’re pro black, and are aware of the issues black women face finding a partner to build with, you should be checking for them as a priority but If you happen find actual love in someone from another race while doing that, there’s nothing wrong with that either. Like KHUFU KHUFU said, if you’re doing it for status or superficial reasons, that’s trash.
