Black Culture Discussion Thread

The level of cornball you gotta be to not be black and to debate black people in a black thread(or the internet) about black things.

A while ago I was wondering why some folks were pulling other peoples race card on NT but the more I found understanding I realized some dudes want to be down so bad.

And I'm going to call it now. Some of y'all non-black posters got yall head mess up because you have(had) a black girlfriend/wife etc. Don't come in here thinking that you can be black here because she won't let you pretend to be black at home. And don't think you can vicariously live a black experience through others, black friends, NT etc. Ain't nobodies confused auntie claiming white people as black on these threads to gas your head up. Same on you for thinking you black because you don't put foraged fruits, berries and nuts in your potato salad and can do all the variations of the electric slide on beat.

Yeah I'm shocked. Wasn't he debating you about black history.

Uses a Black man in his avy at the time, while also using Black emoji's in order to decorate his posts, then having the nerve to talk about artistic integrity.

Okay, I got this.
You guys are funny.

I’ve never pretended nor have hid my ethnicity. I’m unapologetically Hispanic. Have posted my pic multiple times on here.

I can’t use certain avi’s of people who’s work I admire or am a fan of or whatever reason I have an avi of someone because they’re black? I have to be black to do that? :lol

And LOL at debating black history. No, I pointed out one thing Khufu got WRONG in his argument about culture vultures because misinformation is dangerous and son chose to deflect until the wheels fell off. Like he continues to do now. >D

Y’all continue and have fun with this narrative about it only being about artistic integrity, though.

Have a good day.

Yes, I have to get defensive when certain cats (not necessarily aimed at you) are trying to sully my name with some twisted perspective of me because they interpreted my argument on some position in another thread as however they interpreted it.

The way I post is basically how I speak in real life in a non-professional setting. I grew up around a lot of black and brown folk so take that however you want. :lol Never use the N word though and have never used it on here.

I pop into all the culture discussion threads because I’m a curious person by nature. This is a public forum after all, I don’t see any rules saying you can’t read certain discussions because of your ethnicity.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!
In other words, Black when it is convenient.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

What’s funny about being Hispanic?

You got some prejudice sentiments you want to get off your chest? >D

The hispanic tried to challenge me in regard to WHITE people intentionally trying to hide the fact that the Greek Statues were indeed colored. It is a fact that this was hidden on purpose, which is proven through this article....In a catalogue essay for an 1892 exhibition at the Art Institute of Chicago, the classical scholar Alfred Emerson said of polychromy that “literary testimony and the evidence of archeology are too strong and uniform to admit of quibble or doubt.” Nevertheless, Emerson continued, “so strong was the deference for the Antique, learned from the Italian masters of the Renaissance, that the accidental destruction of the ancient coloring” had been “exalted into a special merit, and ridiculously associated with the ideal qualities of the highest art”—from “lofty serenity” to “unsullied purity.”
This ardor for whiteness was so intense that the evidence didn’t stand a chance. Scholars who continued to discuss polychromy were often dismissed. Auguste Rodin is supposed to have pounded his chest and said, “I feel it here that they were never colored.” Sculpture and painting had become increasingly independent disciplines, and artists who tried to merge the two were met with scorn. In the eighteen-fifties, when the British artist John Gibson, a proponent of polychromy, showed his delicate “Tinted Venus”—the goddess’s body is mostly white, but she has muted golden hair and cornflower-blue eyes—a titillated reviewer described the figure as “a naked, impudent Englishwoman.”

As the artist and critic David Batchelor writes in his 2000 book, “Chromophobia,” at a certain point ignorance becomes willful denial—a kind of “negative hallucination” in which we refuse to see what is before our eyes. Mark Abbe, who has become the leading American scholar of ancient Greek and Roman polychromy, believes that, when such a delusion persists, you have to ask yourself, “Cui bono?”—“Who benefits?” He told me, “If we weren’t benefitting, we wouldn’t be so invested in it. We benefit from a whole range of assumptions about cultural, ethnic, and racial superiority. We benefit in terms of the core identity of Western civilization, that sense of the West as more rational—the Greek miracle and all that. And I’m not saying there’s no truth to the idea that something singular happened in Greece and Rome, but we can do better and see the ancient past on a broader cultural
horizon.”

As stated, White people tried to hide the fact that these statues were colored, which would have proven that the Greeks of that time were not white, but people of color.

 You’re pathetic at this point.

Anyone can go back to the culture vulture thread and see I challenged the FACT that you said they PAINTED sculptures white.

I didn’t even quote you to begin with, I quoted someone who took your rhetoric as truth and informed them that NO ONE EVER PAINTED the statues white.

Then you started taking the argument in another direction with classic deflection.

And say what you have to say about how you feel about Hispanic people. You obviously feel some type away about us. Don’t p**** foot around it with passive aggressive font.

François Auguste René Rodin (12 November 1840 – 17 November 1917), known as Auguste Rodin (/oʊˈɡuːst roʊˈdæn, roʊˈdæ̃/; French: [oɡyst ʁɔdɛ̃]), was a French sculptor.[1] Although Rodin is generally considered the progenitor of modern sculpture,[2] he did not set out to rebel against the past. He was schooled traditionally, took a craftsman-like approach to his work, and desired academic recognition,[3] although he was never accepted into Paris's foremost school of art.

Artistic integrity, indeed.

So you come into a Black culture thread, and now you are the victim?
What pray tell, does this thread have to do with you?

Breh I’ll pop into any damn thread I please. If a topic interests me, I’m in there. Again, this is a PUBLIC FORUM. Don’t know what’s so foreign about that concept that you can’t get it through your thick skull. :lol

And I’ve posted my pic plenty of times to prove who I am. I don’t hide behind a computer screen like you. Have you ever posted anything to prove you even are what you say you are?

Regardless, I have too much respect for my other black NT brehs to continue to clutter up this thread with this back and forth.

I concede. You win. I’ve already stated my position numerous times. I couldn’t really care less what YOU think about me. Have a good day, champ.
