Black Culture Discussion Thread

Again, who has denied that?
Plenty of folks in general, especially in this thread, just not in the here and now. The "both sides are the same" is a common argument. Either way the person who brought it up didn't mention you, not sure why you're turning into a "this page" thing, it's just a general conversation.

Maybe I thought he was referring to me since I was the person quoted? Just a guess.

You gotta do better than that, the context doesn't even imply it.
Again, I have no way of knowing someone else's intentions.

I know I have, in the past, said, "Neither can be trusted." So how am I supposed to know who doesn't translate that into, "Both are the same." (Which I HAVE been accused of).

So yea, I have no way of knowing why someone quoted me.

This screen-name was made when I was 14 years old with aspiring Hoop Dreams.

Why not move away, I am cool here for now. It is fine here, but I still know I am not wanted here. Doesn't mean I need to move away.

So it has been your experience that has changed your perspective on America? Being "Cool here" and "It is fine here" give off a different vibe then your prior post. If people who don't want you here, or you don't feel like you're treated equally then that seems like a horrible place to live. If you really feel like you aren't wanted here then why would you stay? That's no way to treat yourself. Do you feel that its really not as bad as your putting on? That there really isn't another place in the world that even comes close, to being better for you as an individual?
I think our ancestors did fight for equality in a place that was their new home. Even in the face of people that didn't want them here. I also think that for the most part, equality is what we have.

Yea I never said it was a HORRIBLE place to live, nothing close to it.

I said it is much better to live here vs. how it was 50 years prior. But I still acknowledge "folks" don't want us here.
That doesn't mean I think it is a horrible experience.
That doesn't mean I need to leave.
That doesn't mean I think it would be better elsewhere.

Not sure why me saying those things would evoke a, "Well leave then" response.

You interpreted it that way. I am cool here, I will leave when I am ready.

Sorry. Not saying you should leave. I wouldn't say that to anyone, and I would support your decision to do whatever. Just saying that if I felt that way then I would think it was horrible. It's just that I hear all these complaints about America like there is some better place. I know it's not perfect here but it's thee best place to live. It's more than "It's not bad", It is great to live here.

It is possible to have 2 trains of thoughts running simultaneously.

Black people are not wanted here; however, it is cool living here. Not sure what it would be like to live elsewhere. (Good or Bad).

I won't ignorantly say it is the BEST place to live, I have ONLY lived Here.

Lolwut Have you lived anywhere else in your life to make that assertion ?

My issue with black people is that they would rather spend a ton of money to visit Italy or France (where you are clearly not welcomed) but wouldn’t want to visit a Kenya or Ghana.

I get the fact that a lot of black people on this side of the world wouldn’t want to live in Africa, but come on at least visit our home continent.

The black diaspora is so lost it’s not even funny.

I quoted you because you posted the story

And the second time I quoted you was because what you said is the usual copout used to stay disengaged from politics.

Yea, I had to check myself on this. All of my "must see" international spots were in Asia.

I changed that mindset on that.

It ain't a great place to live when you can be discriminated, harassed, killed because of your race and those same people doing the violence have a system backing them. You sound like you don't know the history (or current times) of this country when it comes to the treatment of black people.

As far as leaving our people built this country so the better question is why don't America give black people what they're owed?

Define "clearly not welcomed" please

Define "clearly not welcomed" please

you think Italians and French people want black people maruading in their country? Are they welcoming you with open arms or they just want your tourist dollars?

my travels in Africa have all been pleasant, its like we are long lost brothers.

Why use the word marauding here? It implies malice when there is none.....that aside, I'm sure some French and or Italians may feel that way, and I'm sure many others don't. You're applying a broad stroke to people without any proof, which goes against your claim of black people being "clearly not wanted" in those countries.

ok its clear you are European lol

Anyway, this was directed to my brothers in the Americas who are all conditioned to want to vacation in European places first before conscidering to go to Africa.

Its the truth, if I go on my Facebook and see a random black friend vacationing between Europe or Africa. 9 out of 10 would be in Europe.

Im only stating facts, dont be mad at me.

I'm American, and how could you be stating facts when you provided no evidence of your claims?

so why the hell u getting all uptight for about Europe.

Im here saying we as black people shy away from visiting our mother continent yet wanna run to Europe like we belong there and yet youre here defending Europe.

Man leave me alone youngogjosh youngogjosh

I dont want to come in a "Black culture thread" and have another brother here defending Europe over Africa. I aint here for that.
